My understanding is that the very first Adult Program group showed up the very next day after the wrap on Huntsville filming for the "Spacecamp" movie in 85. I read somewhere that the staff assumed that the movie crew would still be packing all their stuff up that day and were all shocked to show up that morning and find no sign that they'd ever been there, having left over the night without a trace. The first adult program campers showed up a few hours later.
I didn't find out about the adult programs until 2011, I think. I've always said it's the best kept secret out there...

Just so everyone has something to look forward to. I started pulling out some of my old space camp memorabelia today. I would have done this a longtime ago but tiull i moved last year most of it was buried in a closet somewhere. Still need to get into a couple of boxes in the garage after my back stops hurting from moving several heavy ones around today. Once i get itno them i'll make sure to take some pictures of the memorabelia i have along with my space camp patch collection and get it on here as well. Wish i had all my old stuff but i wasnt smart enough to hang onto a couple of things from my earlier years something i regret now. I also have some items i picked up that predate my camp time as well.

It now contains all my notes and souvenirs from that trip. I also have the old navy shorts (program-specific) and wind jacket that came in my uniform kit in 1998, I believe. I can get a photo if anyone is interested.
I got one of those too, in 1996. unfortunately, I gave it away to my niece. Didn't realize how interesting these would all be later.

Interesting. The image shows fine for me, it's a US SC patch, and has the word “Academy” where you usually see the Huntsville location noted along the bottom. Heck, I’d never even heard of one of these before, now I have yet another SC patch to try to track down for my collection.
Jennifer, do you own this or did you find the photo somewhere and were curious? If it's yours, where'd you find it?

I think that's the one currently on eBay. I've never seen a patch like that before.

As you like to say, ePay had it and it's now mine. International shipping was high (typical), but they let me have the patch for cheap so it was worth it.

I've never seen one before either, or heard of it, so it's either a replica someone had commissioned or could be from back in the 80s, when Academy was just starting. I don't know... I am going to go back and look through camp brochures to see if this particular logo is used anywhere.

Jennifer, I'd have given you a heck of a fight if I'd noticed that one. I'm surprised I didn't see it!

It's a new one to me as well.

PSA/Aside: I can't recommend putting images up on imgur enough before linking to them here. It's free, it's good, and it doesn't even require an account of any sort!

Very cool Boomerang, and all this time and I didn't know you were a Right Stuff Award winner. What magazine is "Space the Camp" from?

I was a right stuff award winner in 98. As for the magazine it is a Life Magazine i believe its from 1985 it had Bill Cosby on the front they show up on Ebay frequently when you do a space camp search. The article seems to have been written around the same time as the book i pictured from the 80s as it has the same girl featured in both though she was a multiple time attendee and the pictures of the discovery cockpit so look diffrent between the two but also has some unique pictures to the article. Later today or tonight i should have my patch collection photographed and up hopefully by the end of the week i;ll get into the carte in the garage and get to the rest of my stuff as well.

Love the photos. I had no idea they ever made a SC Alumni patch. I utterly baffled as to why they don't sell those now, they had a alumni t-shirt in 2012...
Man, how I'd love to get my mitts on at least one of those alumni patches...

The smaller alumni patch the one that looks like a military style patch i was given when io went to alumni camp in 2007. I'm not sure what year it was even produced but i seem to remember it being in the gift shop once upon a time as well but it was no longer available for purchase by 07. The round camp style alumni patch was available for sale ion the gift shop in 07 but never saw it again after that. I have never seen these show up on ebay either so may be diffiicult to find them.

Living proof that if you don't go to SC every year, you're gonna miss something. Oh how I wish they still sold those alumni patches. I think amny people would buy them once they're done...
My first year in 2012, they had Alumni t-shirts (tan, with SC wings on the back, a SC logo on the right sleeve). I bought one, should have gotten an extra. Ironically, I don't think I wore it but a couple of times right after camp that year.
