I came across a website where you can download the Space Camp video game from 1986 and wanted to share

I was able to find an emulator to get the game to run on a MAC- I'm sure there are PC MSX emulators out there. Your mileage may vary, download the emulators at your own risk of course.

Thought you guys might enjoy if this hasn't been posted here already...

Ha! Too funny. I never knew this existed until now. I wonder if I can download it, transfer it to floppy, then to a 5 1/4" floppy (probably too old for most of you youngens to remember), and play it in my uncle's dinosaur laptop. (I say dinosaur because its screen is green, it weighs as much as a small T-Rex, and is probably from the same era.)

You've got something that will read and write 5 1/4 floppies? That actually might be worth something, especially if you've got a way to get the data out in some useful electronic format. I'm sure there's all kinds of data and programs and such that's stuck on very old computers with no way to get it to something more up to date.

Ah the days of playing ascii games, loaded via cassette tape on the Commodore 64. Then we got a disk drive and it was like the whole world opened up! Why yes, I am a child of the 80's, why do you ask?

For some odd reason, I ran into several camp fightsuits over the past few months and have bought several as they were so cheap.
I have noticed a lot of difference in the details of the ones I have, would it be worth my time here to get photos of the differences?

I'd love to see them i've seen several variations over the years have owned 3 diffrent variations myself.

Perhaps these were given out as awards at some point? For a long time, pewter Space Shuttle lapel pins were used as awards for team awards such as Best Mission, Best Mission Patch, etc.

They use to give out best mission awards not sure if they do anymore the patch was likely given out with the award.

The pins were often given out to Parent/Child Camp teams. I got several on different trips there. Usually for things like Best Parent/Child Cooperation or Best Space Station.

The patches are being used for certain awards again. The shuttle pins are still in use as well, for all programs, not just the family programs.

I know Space Camp Turkey has a best mission award that uses a similar patch, I believe Space Camp California did as well. They give awards for best mission, best mars colony, and best mission patch. Oddly, they don't give wings but give a pin to each graduate. The wings were too costly to produce in Turkey at the time of the camp opening, as I heard.

I still wear my shuttle pin i got at camp almost 20 years ago. I wear it at work on my lab coat every day.

MORE VINTAGE SPACE CAMP MEMORABILIA FROM MY COLLECTION!

I have dug deeper into my collection of Space Camp related items that I've saved from the late 80's and early 90's. Here we go!

Ringer style Space Camp t-shirts from 1989, 1991, and 1992. These were the shirts each trainee was issued at check-in, with your team name (sponsor) logo on the back side of the shirt.




And these are the shorts campers wore back then! I have two pairs branded Space Academy. Counselors wore a much nicer version of these, with velcro stripes like the shuttle astronauts of the period. A rare item to find these days!




Here's a few shirts you would have seen in the Sprocket gift shop back in the early 90s!



I purchased this shirt at camp the summer of 1991. This would still be an awesome shirt to wear around today if they'd reprint these!



In the summer of 1992 I purchased this shirt while at camp. Ya gotta love the shuttle flight profile and how it flows front-to-back!



And here's the hats Space Academy trainees were issued at check-in, 1991 and 1992. They were not very comfortable or stylish, even for back then.



And now it's time for some newspaper clippings! I kept a lot of NASA and space-related news articles back in those days. I went through my old boxes this evening and found a few articles related to Space Camp from my local paper, which often featured Sprocket in its Travel section since Huntsville is so close by.

So I went by my parents' house over the weekend and pulled out some more of my Space Camp memorabilia I had stored in their attic! Here's a few of the items I was able to bring back:

These were must-have books for Campers back in the day.

In 1991, Space Camp tried to start its own Space-themed version of America Online or CompuServe called SpaceMail. It was a concept ahead of its time.

My copy of the book the Apollo 13 movie was based on, as signed by Jim Lovell while I was at Camp in 1994.



GIFT SHOP BAG! ...WHAT??
I saved everything from my years at Space Camp...including this plastic bag from the Sprocket gift shop!

Ok i know this is an old thread and i do not have pictures of this to show currently but i just recently completed a historic part of my space camp patch collection. Back when there was a Space Camp Level 1 and a space Camp level 2 program in the 80s each level 2 team was bnamed for a space shuttle. each team had a patch like the one pictured here http://www.collectspace.com/review/navy ... atch01.jpg the patch of course coirresponded to the team name. I had managed to get the patches for Columbia, Discovery and Atlantis over the last few years. Now thanks to a former counselor i also have the Challenger patch to complete the collection. I'll try to take and post some pictures in the near future.

It's a shame that there's a copyright issue to deal with, otherwise I think between about 3-4 of us here on the forum, we could put together one heck of a good book on SC memoribilia!

Probably the most unique memorabilia that I have is from when I had an Enterprise level membership to Space Camp, in the late 90s. The first couple of years that they had the membership program available, if you donated at the Enterprise level, they sent you a special gift. They stopped doing so after two years. Probably was too expensive. And after about 5 years, they stopped sending me renewals so I assume that they discontinued the program or else have limited it to people in the state. I am posting a photo of the two items that I received. A photo album the first year and a messenger bag from the second year.

I have a black zipper binder with the ASA logo on it at home. It was handed out to people attending the 8-day adult camp in 2004. It now contains all my notes and souvenirs from that trip. I also have the old navy shorts (program-specific) and wind jacket that came in my uniform kit in 1998, I believe. I can get a photo if anyone is interested.

I'm interested, Braids! Loving all this memorabilia stuff. Say, what year did they first admit adults to Camp? I found out in 1999 and my head exploded within seconds.
