Space Camp song

Post by Repeat »

So as a former camper, I was always kinda sad that Space Camp didn't have a camp song the way my other camps did. I sorta adopted the Time for Courage song as my own, but it's not really about space camp.

Well, times have changed. Two former space camp counselors have written and produced a song that is the new official Space Camp song. It's got cool lyrics, and the music is relatively easy to learn - it's not necessarily the best music to a music major, but for a camp song, it's kinda cool.

It's available in the giftshop for about $5, and the money from it is going toward the scholarship fund to help send kids to space camp. I don't think it's available online yet, but it might be at some point in the future.

That is cool, but $5 is quite pricy for one song...

yes, but there are usually three hundred applicants for about 50 spots for scholarship week - and all the proceeds go toward helping others get to space camp. So really - when you think about making a five dollar donation to the scholarship fund - and as a token of their appreciation for your donation, you get a cd with the space camp song on it - that's really nice. As someone who was lucky enough to go 8 times, I want everyone to enjoy the awesomeness that is space camp - especially those who can't afford it any other way.

I was also fortunate enough to go to Space Camp on scholarship. I saved up for many years to go the first time, and without the scholarship I wouldn't have been able to return until I was an adult.

If the song on CD ever comes available on the online shop, I'll be sure to order two of them - one for me and one for my best mate from camp.

True about that. I realized that when I posted, it's just... well, it is a high amount. But I'd probably buy it when I was there. No worries.

yes, it is a high amount. But many people would say it's a high amount to go to camp - and if those $5 can help someone who wouldn't normally be able to get to camp - well, then the fact that you get a song to remember donating money to the scholarship fund by is cool.

Yeah, I know. I was being too pessimistic or something. Who knows.

Sending kids to camp is a wonderful thing.
