'The Cape' TV show

Way back in 1997 there was a TV show called 'The Cape', about astronauts training for and going on shuttle missions. There is some drama and stuff you would never see happening in real life, but it is light and fun and entertaining - to me, at least. It was aired at the worst possible timeslot and I...

Re: Space Camp Turkey

Some of my initial thoughts after hearing the news were of Space Camp Turkey too. Their latest Facebook post was some photos of a video conference with Sunita Williams on Friday.

Re: Got to hear Moonwalker Charlie Duke Speak today

Wow, what a treasured experience. Thank you for sharing. Somehow, hearing trivia and personal stories about astronaut missions makes them seem more real; tangible and relatable to us mere earthlings. Someone needs to make a museum dedicated solely to the Moon missions - an expansion to the Davidson ...

And now the director is coming too! So, Vincent, you're going to provide us with a full report after Summeriest, right?!?!? I will be at Girl Guide camp and won't be able to attend, and I won't have internet access then either.

Re: Become Canada's next astronaut!

You have to be a medical doctor or dentist, with a PhD, to be considered. I don't have a degree of any kind whatsoever. Plus, I would surely fail the medical due to asthma and anaphylaxis. C'est la vie! The Canadian government doesn't send rejection letters; you only hear from them if they want to i...

Become Canada's next astronaut!

Canada is hiring two new astronauts! Very exciting.

Details here:

Good luck to everyone who applies! I wish I qualified.

Re: Adult Week Long October 2016

My husband (Goose) offered to let me go to camp without him this year... but I couldn't do it. Now that I've been to camp with him it seems wrong to go without him, and if I went this year our odds of both going next year would reduce to zero. At least I'm going to see my good friend from camp this ...

Re: Let's Get Rudy T back to Space Camp

I just read the story on the main page and wow. It's great to hear he's coming back to camp and being inducted to the Hall of Fame. There are many interesting things happening at Space Camp this year. Wow.

Re: Adult Week Long October 2016

I would think the pre-designed team mission patches are only available for week long sessions because of the time it takes to have them made and shipped back to camp. Anyone here know for sure? Otherwise, some teams choose to take their own created mission patch design and have it made into embroide...

Re: 2016

1. Not all adults who attend Space Camp are married or otherwise in a relationship back home.
2. Space Camp has a track record of people meeting at camp and eventually getting married. It is a real thing. I know of at least two couples that met at camp and are now happily married.

Re: Married couples

Corporate Space Camp forms have different due dates than regular camp. Once you register you will be given the form deadlines. If I recall correctly, forms have to arrive at camp at least two weeks prior to your arrival day. Don't hold me to that though... If you have the ability to SCUBA I highly r...

Re: Married couples

We stayed in Habitat 1 (the Hab). I don't see why you couldn't transfer to the Marriott in the middle of camp if you were uncomfortable. Just let your counsellor know so they can check you out of your Hab rooms. Though, staying in the Hab is part of the immersive camp experience... I'm not sure I'd ...

I don't drink coffee either, but they always had coffee ready in the mess hall when our team arrived, often before official breakfast time.

I replied in the other thread but couples are not be permitted to bunk together during camp.

Re: Married couples

I surprised my husband with a trip to Space Camp in 2013. We went back again in 2015. We thoroughly enjoyed both of our times at camp together. What would you like to know?

For the record, you will be assigned separate rooms on opposite ends of the Hab (one end or females, one for males).

Re: Shuttle-Centaur leaving Sprocket

So very sad, but sharing is a good thing, so more people can appreciate it. I feel the Centaur is one of those underappreciated gems in the space collection. I admired it each and every time I walked from the museum to the habitat (and back). It will be missed.

Re: Greetings fellow campers!

Hello, and welcome to Hab1! I'm of no use when it comes to the 1989-90 camp dates or finding long lost friends or videos, but I wish you luck in your search. Space Camp has changed significantly since my first camp in 1998; even more if you haven't been there since 1990! You probably won't even reco...
