I have to ask you... Might you list the actual dates of the SpaceCamp NEWS issues you have? I have all of mine from 1989 and am curious to know if those were the only years they were produced or not.... Pictured are: Fall 1989 Fall 1990 December 1990 Spring 1991 Summer 1992 Winter 1992 Fall 1993 Sp...

Orbiter flight sim
Are you guys familiar with Orbiter, the space flight simulator? It is a totally FREE download with realistic graphics and stunning accuracy. It started out as just a Shuttle sim but add-ons have been created for many other vehicles including Mercury, Gemini, Apollo...even vehicles that were proposed...

Re: Bloopper and Right Stuff
Who was ever thier in '89 did they use a name like Armstrong, Shepard? If they did they might have just used colors for the movie. In 1989 there were no Shepard or Armstrong teams. Historical names came later in the mid to late 90s. The planetary names from the early days were gone by that time too...

X-Wing Fighter
Does anyone remember the Star Wars X-Wing fighter mock-up that sat in the Rocket Park back in the 80's/early 90s? It sat in the area where the HAWK missile launcher is now (in between Space Shot and Saturn 5). What was the story on that? I always thought it was a bit random and out-of-place. What ha...

vintage Space Camp memorabilia!
just thought i'd share some of my old Space Camp stuff! get ready for a little trip back in time... If you bought a coke at the Space & Rocket Center in 1994, you probably drank it out of one of these (25th anniversary of Apollo 11): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/hemiman876/SC/2006119.j...

Who is the coolest counciler of all time?
My vote would have to be for my night counciler from my 1989 Boeing team at Space Camp, "Big E". Big E was this big black guy who was funny as hell! I don't think he ever stopped smiling or laughing. He was quite the jokester and prankster. Well, there was this drop-dead gorgeous older gi...

I put my own name in since I have no kids and no longer live with my folks. Hehehe. It will be interesting to see what has changed since I last went to camp back in '94!

Does the mothership read this forum?
So does the "mothership" (the big wigs who run Space Camp and the USSRC) read this forum? I know we have some councilers and staff on here. Just curious.

Ironicly i got to fly on both missions the year i flew Discovery and the (old) Endeavour. I was one of the lucky few who, instead of getting stuck with a MOCR position for one of the missions, got a role on the Space Station. So, I got to tag along with the Endeavour crew for what was essentially a ...

Bart Williams
Do any of the old timers remember Bart Williams, counciler/lecturer from the early 90's era? Anyone at Space Camp or Academy in 1991 would remember his hilarious "Commander Dirt Clod and Pilot Peat Moss Head" lecture/true story. Last I heard he got promoted to a desk-type job upstairs in t...

We had someone from the week before us leave a carton of chocolate milk up in the air vent. Needless to say, it went sour and made our whole room smell rank. It took them two days to find out what the smell was - horrible! You think that was bad? I was there the summer when skunks got trapped in th...
