Re: Leadership Changes at Space Camp
That looks like a total cleanout. Pretty much every program manager is listed. I am glad I went to the Adult Academy this year. Who knows what a totally new administration will put forward in the future as far as programs.

Here is a slideshow of all the photos that I have. Warning, it is over 500 and includes the photo disk that I paid for that the counselors took.

Re: Hab Windows
John Ramsey had a focus group after graduation that several of us attended. One of his ideas was booking a group of rooms at the Marriott for the Adult programs and having an upcharge for the upgraded accommodations. Some people liked the idea. Some thought that the extra charge might price them out...

Re: Hab Windows
I just got back and stayed in 303. I had the plain door too with no handle on the outside. The hab was warmer than in the past. I guess the updated heating is working. I didn't need my sweat suit at all. The bins are screwed down, which is good, because they were always a waste of space anyway. Once...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!
A new announcement about our camp: It’s my great pleasure to announce that joining Capt. Robert ‘Hoot’ Gibson for your week at Adult Advanced Space Academy is retired Marine Corps Aviator and former Shuttle Astronaut Col. Robert Springer. You have a great pair of experienced Military Aviators and Sh...

Re: Adult Space Academy 49 - AWESOME!!!
I have stayed in the Hab, or the AC bunkrooms, every time of my 13 visits to Space Camp. I always think about the Marriott. It is so comfortable when I stay there the night before camp. But I think that bonding with my teammates is more important than the comfort of a hotel room, so I have always ta...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!
Thanks for the reminder. I thought that I had finished my transportation form, but when I checked I had missed one thing so it is completed now. I also did my dietary requirements, which I had forgotten. All done now.

I agree. Riding Rockets is a fun and interesting book. I like hearing stories about Hoot Gibson, too.

Re: Adult Space Academy 49 - AWESOME!!!
I must admit to not reading the packing list the last couple of visits and getting caught without a towel last August. I was used to them being provided. But I bought one of the Space Camp beach towels from the online shop a few months ago, before they ran out, so I will be bringing it along with me...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!
I have been reading for a month or so. First Falling to Earth, by Al Worden. Now I am in the middle of Carrying the Fire by Michael Collins. I have the shuttle operators manual too. And my last Advanced Adult Academy manuals. I won't fight for a pilot's or Commander's spot. I prefer to be a Mission ...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!
I will be Training with an Astronaut. I am driving down on Saturday the 10th and staying the night at the Marriott. I know from the Facebook page that many of us who are arriving that evening will be gathering in the bar at the Marriott (now apparently nicknamed "The Library") I got my scu...

Re: Food Network show comes to Space Camp
I saw the show last night. They showed the EVA, a turn in the Multi-Axis trainer and the two of them in the cockpit of the Orbiter, doing a launch and landing. For that they got their wings. They also showed a restaurant in Huntsville called Blue Plate which is supposed to have great breakfasts. I m...

I don't recall the harnesses outside the Space Station for EVAs. Are those new? That could be fun. I did the harness on Enterprise a while back but never at the Space Station.

40. You use Google street view to virtually walk around the perimeter of Space Camp because it makes you feel like you are there again.
41. Whenever you change your Facebook profile picture, you use a different photo of yourself from past Space Camps.

Re: MAT upgrades
Ha! Well, you could fit the whole team on there. Might be a team building experience. The whole side-by-side thing though would certainly preclude your stomach from being the center of gravity, which the instructors say keeps your from getting nauseous. Two people back-to back might work better. As ...

Re: Prep for Adult ASA
This morning I used Google street view to travel the perimeter of Space camp virtually. It doesn't go inside but you can get a pretty good look at the Hab and Pathfinder and quite close to the Saturn V and the Davison center. It almost feels like you are there. And I like that it is from 2013 and th...

Re: Prep for Adult ASA
All those movies sound like winners. I have a whole library of good books. Lost Moon. Failure is not an Option (really good preparation for mission control) I have bought a large selection of colored sharpie pens and printed off some easy to copy images of spacecraft to assist in the patch design. I...

Re: obsessed with the idea of space camp
Thanks for sharing that. I looks like you had a blast. I love being Mission Specialist too. I agree with P-51 about the Post-Space camp depression. And we usually have Space Camp dreams for a while after. And beyond. When I took my nephews to the family camp, we battled the depression on the drive b...
