yes, it is a high amount. But many people would say it's a high amount to go to camp - and if those $5 can help someone who wouldn't normally be able to get to camp - well, then the fact that you get a song to remember donating money to the scholarship fund by is cool.

well, they're currently restoring it, and from what I understand, there's been talk (nothing definite) of building a building around it - so it's not even definite yet, but they're definitely trying to right their wrongs...

I want to say I heard it from one of the museum people; not just a space camp person. And they said they were giving a tour on which someone who'd worked with that scientist told her the rest of the story and confirmed the facts. Now, whether or not THAT person was lying - well, I like to think they...

That, I don't know. Especially because there's been talk of building a building around the Saturn V (now that they've found out they can't move it since it's a National Historic Landmark). But it will probably come back to Rocket Park eventually.

The titan isn't gone permanently; it's just out in the back lot right now. They needed to move it while they worked on the restoration of the Saturn V - it was in the way. So they moved it out, and there's a big mud puddle where it's been. From what I understand, they plan to put it back when they'r...

about the whole saturn v thing...i wrote that down a while ago and the story was shot down...the reasons why should be on the first page or so of this topic... The story that I told about it being stolen from the smithsonian is pretty much true - you'll see the sign that declares it a national hist...

The one in Rocket Park is a Saturn I. It is also a replica, not an original. Basically, the only two rockets that are originals are the two laying down - the Saturn V and the Atlas (I think it's an Atlas - it's lying down, silvery, near the first stage of the Saturn V). Anything you see standing up ...

I wrote team leader or general counselor or something to that effect, as I wasn't aware that they had changed the structure when I applied for rehire.

yes, but there are usually three hundred applicants for about 50 spots for scholarship week - and all the proceeds go toward helping others get to space camp. So really - when you think about making a five dollar donation to the scholarship fund - and as a token of their appreciation for your donati...

we were talking about painting the trailers last year. The problem is convincing sprocket to pay people to do stuff - they had counselors down at AC fixing it up last summer. As I like to say, AC's motto should be "We make do with nothing." We're given very little, but we make it awesome a...

kinda like when i was there as a camper in 99 or 00, I was told "when you come back next year, there will be a building instead of the bubble." I was there just this last summer as a counselor, and the bubble hasn't gone anywhere. It's just dirtier.

there are so many things that are in the works or that are dreams that it's ridiculous. Unfortunately, AC tends to be the red-headed step-child of Sprocket.

It's more like a pipe dream than an actual reality... I've seen the plans for it, most people know where the shell is, but the computers and the software necessary to run it all aren't in the budget - in a couple years, maybe.

oh yeah, I forgot about summer applicants. Silly me - I'm not sure what they're hiring for summer. I heard they wouldn't be doing a new training for team leaders, so they might not be hiring level IIs and IIIs, but I'm not sure (I have no confirmation, just speculation and guessing).

Space Camp song

So as a former camper, I was always kinda sad that Space Camp didn't have a camp song the way my other camps did. I sorta adopted the Time for Courage song as my own, but it's not really about space camp. Well, times have changed. Two former space camp counselors have written and produced a song tha...

I'm pretty sure there's a slightly longer Adult AC - it might even be called Adult Mach III - I'm not positive. I've never done it (I was a camper as a kid and now work as a counselor), but from what I understand things often get tried out on them that later get used in the younger programs, so I th...

It is not in fact operable. They're still working on getting that up and running, but mostly funding is needed before anything can happen.

From what I understand, the current undertaking is new software for the current sims - it looks like that will happen this fall(ish).

the due date I believe has passed, as both level I and II training has begun. From what I heard from the managers, it seemed like they needed night and weekend availbility... But that might have been for level IIs; come to think of it, based on what the level Is are allowed to do, I don't think ther...

As a current AC counselor, I can tell you none of those people are here anymore.

As a former camper, I remember both Pyro and Rabbit, having had them for various activities (2000 for Rabbit and 2003 for Pyro).
