I was just going to post that registration is now open.
Conan, I look forward to meeting you in October.

[quote="Hotdog"] If I knew for sure that Hoot would be the instructor, I would sign up in a heartbeat![quote] It was announced late last night that the "Train with an astronaut" astronaut instructor will, in fact, be Captain Robert 'Hoot' Gibson. Registration is set to open somet...

Re: Pamper pole area 51

I've done a bunch of low and high ropes courses in the past and have found that the Pamper Pole at Area 51 to be the easiest to conquer of all of the ones I've tried. I think the main reason (and it's all psychological) is that you can feel the tension on the rope attached to your back. For me, that...

Re: Weeklong Adult Space Camp

Sheesh. Figures it'd be the first year I can't make it to Huntsville since I started going to SC... Bummer you won't be able to join in the fun. But I would assume that if the response is good they will run programs like this again in the future. I know there are a number of people on the Facebook ...

Re: Weeklong Adult Space Camp

Posted last night on the Facebook group, there is a high probability of a week long adult camp with two options: Sounds like Option 1 is almost certainly a go and will be up on the site for registration sometime in the next 2-3 weeks. Option 2 is a possibility if there is enough interest (currently ...

Re: Total noob...where have I been?!

Well that's a little disappointing. I just got an email that due to renovations in Hab 1, we'll be in Hab 2 and 3 this weekend. I'm sure it will be just fine, but my initial reaction is disappointment because there's a big difference in having a small room for a few people vs a large room with who ...

Re: obsessed with the idea of space camp

Having gone both as a kid (three times) and an adult (once, 6-day program), I can say that Space Camp is definitely worth the money. It is an incredible experience where you get to do things you never knew you could do, have incredibly unique experiences and meet amazing people. That said, I do thin...

Re: Hallowe'en

I had my fair share of Elsas, more TMNTs and one Emmet who I originally mistook for a construction worker until I saw the Piece of Resistance on his back, but no astronauts. I wore my flight suit to hand out candy at the house and had one young teen (escorting youngsters) gawk a bit at my outfit and...

There's a direct link from the Duct Tape page to the NASA page in the "Usage in Space Flight" section....or am I doing it wrong?

Re: So, who's ready for 2015?

A week at camp sounds like an excellent use for the vacation time that I'm not going to end up taking this year. Hopefully the dates will work out for me to go.

"Pilot programs" as in pilot astronaut? Aviation Challenge? Or "Let's try this out and see if it works" pilot program?

Re: So, who's ready for 2015?

If only they let the big kids (adults over 18) go to the kids' programs. I find teenagers more fun and interesting than a lot of adults and would have no problem being on a team where I'm twice the age (or more) of the rest of the campers. No, it's good they don't do that. You'd never know which ad...

Re: So, who's ready for 2015?

One could always sign up for the 6 or 13 day AC. Again, not offered to adults. :( although, if they allow 18 year olds, they are technically allowing legal adults. If only they let the big kids (adults over 18) go to the kids' programs. Re: So, who's ready for 2015?

Being a librarian, I thought I should start a new thread for next year's registration, since it is being discussed in the 2014 thread. So, Street, is there any plan for a 6-day or longer Adult program? I am sure that a lot of us alumni would be interested. I'd be interested in a 6-day program (or a...

I got the flight suits that I won in the Florsheim's contest a couple of weeks ago. I was happy to see that they had the old Shuttle logo on them.

Pretty excited about my first trip to space camp this fall. I've read the checklists of what to bring, but wondering if there are any other helpful tips for preparation? Books to read? Thanks! Woo-hoo! I'm sure you'll have a great time at camp this fall. There is no preparation that's required for ...

Re: Flightsuit sizes?

I took out my tape measure and measured my new XL flightsuit this morning. Hips are 48 inches and Chest is 53 inches. Waist is about the same as hips but has adjustable Velcro to make it smaller. Thanks. This is what I was looking for. I think I'm going to go with an XL. They've said that if the si...

Re: Flightsuit sizes?

If you're willing, putting out your stats (measurements, that is) could get your answer. For example, I'm 6 feet tall, about 190, wear a size 44 jacket most of the time (42 if it's cut large) for my shoulders, and wear either a 36 or 38 inch waist pait of pants. An XL suit works just fine for me an...

Flightsuit sizes?

Can anyone help me out with flightsuit sizes? I won a Space Camp adult and a child's size flightsuit in a contest recently and I'm having trouble figuring out what size to request. Sprokets sent me the size list, but all it gives is height and weight guidelines. That's great for people who are stick...
