Re: Hab Windows

John Ramsey had a focus group after graduation that several of us attended. One of his ideas was booking a group of rooms at the Marriott for the Adult programs and having an upcharge for the upgraded accommodations. Some people liked the idea. Some thought that the extra charge might price them ou...

Re: Hab Windows

The new mattresses are thin, but when you can put two on one bed, they are comfortable enough. A fair number of people in our group did that and thought otherwise. I stacked 4, never slept through the night once, and had back pains (and I have no back issues). I'll bring an air mattress the next ti...

That's very sad to hear because those rooms are much the same as they were when I first went to camp in 1991.

Re: Train LIKE an Astronaut

So you went to the NASA Exchange? Love shopping there due to the non publicly available items...

Did they give you the option of climbing the ladder instead of the wall or was it wall or nothing? (couldn't resist the word play)

Re: Hab Windows

LOL HAB1 is either too hot or too cold, usually at the same time given the comments from our group.

Re: Hab Windows

My HAB1 room was much the same as before. New mattresses & pillows made for kids, some paint on walls and in lockers, hatches inside lockers screwed down, new flooring in room, door failed to close without a pull or push, wifi access very limited.. We were told that the renovation was still in P...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!

"All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go..." Sorry, bad movie reference. But true. At least you stayed away from animal crackers. BTW, sung by Chantal Kreviazuk on the soundtrack. Standing there alone, the ship is waiting All systems are go, are you sure? Control is not convinced But the ...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!

Despite the confusion over the "tracks", I am soo thankful for the amount of communication we're getting. Still excited! Can't wait! Agreed! I've always felt that USSRC could be more forthcoming. I appreciate all the effort that John Ramsey is making towards the success of the pilot progr...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!

As it turns out, the MS & PLT designations are NOT tracks, just splitting into groups, like shirts & skins.

(Saw John Ramsey's clarification on FB while at lunch)

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!

I asked if we'd be choosing our track or if it'd be assigned and from the response it sounds like we get to choose. Guess I interpreted things differently... I've never been to a camp where the team sat down and decided positions. Yet given that I tend to be less assertive than others, I'd rather h...

I saw that. I am curious as to how those will be assigned and if trading places (intra and/or inter team) will be allowed.

Re: Adult Space Academy 49 - AWESOME!!!

I think I'll seriously consider bunking at the Marriott the next time I go, assuming I hit a 3 or 4 day program (a 7-day one would be darned pricey at those Marriott rates). Affinity programs help a bit with the Marriott rates. The USSRC discounted rate is relatively low for the Marriott, certainly...

There's speculation that we may have another government shutdown come 10/1. If I remember correctly, the last one shutdown Marshall tours.

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!

Mike Mullane spoke to us at graduation of the first camp I attended. He talked about watching thunderstorms from space. As luck would have it, on my departing flight, while wearing my flightsuit, I had the window seat by the grey bulkhead, just like the orbiter, and we flew over thunderstorms at nig...

I should probably hit the books too, just in case I get assigned to one of the flight seats (though I'd probably give it up to someone who wanted it more than me). LOL You know that you have a few of us panting like dogs after that last statement. ;) What were those cookies again? LOL We have the S...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!

We brought out all our space movies to watch in the weeks leading up to camp. So far, we've seen 2001, 2010 (sequel to 2001), Apollo 13, A Smile As Big As the Moon, Mary-Kate and Ashley's Case of the US Space Camp Mystery (it's an educational throw-back), the original SpaceCamp film, Contact, and a...
