Re: Do Adult program patch designs get left off the website?

Lee, if you will email me the copy you have of your 2012 design I'll have it put on the web site. Your 2013 design has been sent to our webmaster should show up within the next few days. I cannot answer why I didn't get it or the 2013 design initially, but I do apologize for the oversite and will re...

Re: Enough time from graduation to lunch w/an astronaut?

Yes, he'll have enough time. His luggage will be in the 'holding' area where everyone puts their luggage on Friday morning. If he has tickets to the lunch with an astronaut the 'EALD' (early arrival late departure) counselor will have his name on a list and he'll be hustled to the lunch. After lunch...

Re: Daily Schedule

I just spoke to the woman who teams the kids and the internationals are mixed through all of the AA teams. You'll get to meet folks from all over the world! 30 minutes is a quick get ready time, but you'll get the hang of it. You can shower either at night or in the morning. Most people prefer to sh...

Re: Everything you know from Space Camp movies is wrong...

I also know one of our counsellors stayed up later than usual with us, so we got some extra free time at night to hang around at the bottom of the Hab or star gaze. Not going to happen with any of the children's programs...especially to 'hang around the bottom of the hab'. That hab is already full ...

Awards vary according to the program, but Hotdog has the basic gist of it! The main thing you'll take away from your week at Space Camp are your new found skills and friends!

Re: Daily Schedule

Hi girls! You're going to have a great time at ASA! Answers to your questions: 1. How long do you have to get ready in the morning (could I wake up early to take a shower and get ready?) You'll have between 30 and 45 minutes to get ready in the mornings and 30 minutes at night. Contrary to others ad...

Re: Family Camp sleeping arrangements

Hi Chris! Since you, your wife and your geeklet  are a mixed gender family, you will be given your own room. The room has 7 bunks (5 upper, 2 lower), 7 lockers and a desk, so you'll have room to spread out. Be sure everyone brings shower shoes so you don't go home with a science experiment bet...

Re: Going for the first time in August, what to expect?

Hi Mikki! Have you looked at the Mission Briefing Kit ( http://www.spacecamp.com/forms/2012MBK.pdf ) on spacecamp.com? It has a fairly comprehensive packing list. It will give you a good idea of the things you'll need for your week. Since you're doing the mission specialist track be sure to get your...

Re: Camp Shopping!

You can use your 'gift card' at the Gift Shop, the IMAX concession stand and the Mars Grill (not usually visited by Campers). Dippin' Dots are available out in Rocket Park or from vending machines. Depending upon your need for Dippin' Dots, (they're rather pricey!) I'd bring at least $15 in singles.

It is currently displayed beside Pathfinder. As soon as the mounting is ready it will be moved closer to the Astrotrek building, about 25 feet from it's present location.

Where is that? I don't recall ever seeing the dot vending machine (or any other vending machines, now that I think on it) when I was there. You wouldn't have seen the yogurt machine because it is new. The vending machines surround the UAT. The Dippin' Dots and a Coke machine are to the right of the...

There a group that still sponsors migrant workers kids annually; as do a couple of native American tribes and other similar groups. There are a lot of organizations out there that raise funds and send kids who otherwise would never get the opportunity.

Ice cream (in the small cups) in the cafeteria is generally the dessert for lunch. Dinner has a cake or cookie.

In addition to the Dippin' Dots vending machines, there is now a frozen yogurt vending machine. It's really fun to select your flavors and toppings and watch the robot assemble it.

Re: Are specific weeks given team names normally each year?

There is a set list of names for teams, according to the program. The camp teams were named for astronauts, but that was changed this year. Camp teams are now named for Apollo capsules and lunar landers. Academy are named for moons of planets. Advanced Academy are named for noted rocket scientists. ...

Yes. This is the mockup that sat in the main museum for decades before they moved it out to make room for the traveling exhibits. Actually, this mockup was out in the 'bone yard' longer than that. I've been here nine years and all that was on the main museum floor (that is currently used for travel...
