When i went to space Academy level 1 in 1993 the first day was verry short. My flight was a evening arival and was delayed by a rain storm over huntsville. I got to the space and rocket center in a drenching rain storm. We had been checked in and gotten our name tags and room assignents at the airpo...

First days at camp

Well since the first day of space camp can be exciting, fun and even frightning for some i thought it would be a good idea to let first time campers know what to expect on their first day. I thought we could talk about the first day of camp for each of the times we've gone and compare. When i went t...

I still like the multi axis trainer best. Although the first year i did it i wasnt feeling too hot afterwards but that was just bad scheduling. We ate lunch right before we went on it and for lunch that day we had chili dogs.

Well considering a tornado can be over in 30 seconds taking 30 minutes to get everyone in a shelter might not be too helpful.

And the movie may have been acurate in that regard. I'm rea...

The counsellors were definately great and they do love their jobs. I wish i could apply as a counselor but unfortunately recent medical problems limit my mobility and i wouldnt beable to do the job now. Too bad too since i now have the 2 years of college they require.

Definitely bring a beach towel. The ones they give you at camp are not adequate for anything. Especially if you go to AC where you spend alot of time in water activities. Also I recommend bringing a good pair of sunglasses not so much for space camp or academy but definately foir Aviation challenge....

some realism in the movie

The simulator they used for their camp mission is still their its the Discovery in the back of the training center. And some of the day to day stuff at camp is fairly realistic as to what its like at camp. Bu...
