Re: 'Can Crusher' at the center now...

I believe I know what they are using this for. I'll verify tomorrow. If so you will be bummed.

Re: The Future of the Aviation Challenge Bubble

You know that didn't come up this time but I know in the past it had been discussed. I haven't heard of any issues with the structure except for the fabric that has been layered over and over with various paints. I recall a discussion a few years ago that cast some doubt on getting the fabric replac...

It is an actual hanger and because it has fabric it would be really easy to use an LED light system to light up the roof to tur...

The Future of the Aviation Challenge Bubble

During the last Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission the CEO mentioned they are looking at ideas of how to replace the bubble at Aviation Challenge. The structure is over 30 years old and is starting to really show it's age. I'm posting an article on http://www.sprocketeers.org about the replace...

Re: Space Camp Korea

The group that licensed Dubai transferred their option to India but they are running into a lot of issues there. They did pay their storage fees and their option runs out this month (Nov).

Space Camp Korea

The ASSEC commitees gave their blessing for the center to go into final negotiations with a group to open Space Camp Korea. Barnhart and the licensing VP have been in Korea this week. I'm pretty sure the deal is done but more than likely won't have official confirmation until the ASSEC Annual Meetin...

In reading the other articles on the site it appears that they like to write about their customers. I'm willing to bet (looking at the date of the publish) that maybe a teacher attending International Space Camp made an order and the company kinda jumped on it.

The center reported that by the end of this summer they expect to have had 900+ trainees in the robotics track alone. Because of this influx they are planning on launching a full week robotics program that doesn't include a shuttle mission. Group programs may also be tweaked and finally ... you guys...

2013 Prices

I'm sitting in a joint meeting of the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission Executive and Business Committees. A moment ago there was a discussion about ongoing analysis of the current pricing that has been in place for several years. From the back and forth with the members of the committees and...

Congrats to the 2012 Inductees! I will definitely be attending, looking forward to seeing everyone! Question: will there be a Celebrity emcee, a-la William Shatner '07? Not as MC but there are some cool guests lined up. Funny story about Shatner's visit to Huntsville. He made a lot of Sprocket empl...

Hey guys. I was flying in to Birmingham today and spotted the G-II parked beside the FAA tower. Can't wait to hear how they are going to get her to the sprocket. So far the concept of airlifting her has been thrown out and it looks like a ride up I-65 is going to be the answer BUT there are some hei...

Good news. Don't know if anyone read what we were talking about the placement of the G2 aircraft in shuttle park but Dr. Barnhart just announced in one of the committee meetings that she really wants to move it closer to the Astrotrek building and out of the circle around the Pathfinder.

I wish I knew someone at Camp to propose this to who could make it happen, but I don’t. Does anyone know someone at Marketing there to pitch the idea to? Here’s what someone on the collect space forum did to make it ‘normal’ looking: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q217/wideopenthrottle36/spacec...

Got a blog post coming later tonight with some of the details. It will be a TV movie slated to come out in 2013 and will have a similar concept as the first Space Camp Movie. While one of the working titles is Space Camp 2 it will NOT be named that for sure.

LA event was a great - there were so many people there that several people didn't get to see the movie due to lack of seats.

Movie itself is really great. Great cast and production. You can tell this wasn't some low-end production. I think Space Camp alumni will be proud of it.

I'm going to have to vote no right now - The planes are great to have but I kinda like how Shuttle Park wide open and aircraft sitting on the ground breaks that open space up. It would be cool if they put them up on mounts on the outside ring of the shuttle park. Like between the Mars building and A...

One Step Closer To Space Camp China

Yesterday the Business and Executive Committees of the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission met and both approved a new package with the Mactus Group to license a Space Camp in China with the option to build two more. If the Mactus Group accepts the terms the deal would be worth $3 million with ...
