Re: STA news

Looking good! I hope they coat the windows and inside with UV-resistant coatings so they don't deteriorate in the blazing Alabama summer sun.

How is the amphitheatre area shaping up? They had the major steps carved into the ground when I was there last (2015) but I haven't seen anything since.

Re: Pima Air and Space Museum

Wow! That is about all I can say about our visit to Pima and the Boneyard. The day was incredible. I just wish we could have spent more time there and listened to more stories from the docents. The Boneyard tour was narrated and slow enough to talk about the various planes and the different activiti...

I have seen Dr. Seddon in photos from a few USSRC events, but rarely as a featured guest or speaker.

Re: 2017

But then who would look after their awesome Australian Shepherds if both of them were at camp for a week? I say they bring Hoot and Dr. Seddon, plus their pups. Aussies are super smart; they could probably flick switches or hold the less popular MOCR positions. 8O On a more serious note, a female as...

Hidden Figures

Read the book: it is great! Watch the movie: it is beautiful, inspiring, strong, powerful, and incredible. All of you should watch it. The cinema we went to gave it a standing ovation. There aren't many other words to say, just watch it and admire these women and the other administrators that were p...

Happy New Year's weekend everyone! Who here is planning on attending camp in 2017?

We have other plans this year and hope to return to camp soon. In the meantime, I look forward to all of your stories and photos.

Check in with your session dates and type of camp.

Re: Pima Air and Space Museum

The website says the tour is open to all nationalities, though you must present a current passport for ID. Sounds similar to the tour rules for KSC/CCAFB. My parents will call to confirm before we go.

Pima Air and Space Museum

Has anyone here been to the Pima Air and Space Museum? My husband and I are hoping to go there in February to see both the museum and the airplane boneyard. Reviews? Thoughts? Things not to be missed? http://www.pimaair.org Or any photo wish list requests, if I can get them? I am excited that Canadi...

Re: 'The Cape' TV show

I just acquired a new set of DVDs (unofficial) with better resolution and the missing episodes from my previous set (and YouTube). I can now watch it on our TV without making my eyes twitch. The audio isn't quite as good, however. I'll take what I can get. Hurray!

In Canada there is a huge wall of windows behind the orbiter sim, and the sim has a different payload bay: http://www.ikonet.com/fr/blogue/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/IMG_1294.jpg - Google http://www.xtmedia.net/ima/pan/PAN2_COSMODOME_NAVETTE.JPG - Google It's definitely not Belgium either: http://ww...

Re: Adult Camp Vs. Advanced Academy

I haven't been to the weekend adult camps, but wanted to say that the age range for adult camps is huge: 19 to 80 years old in one team can easily happen! That being said, I'm often the youngest person there (unless my husband comes with me, then he's youngest by a few days) and the age of the team ...

Re: Schollarship questions

For camps and programs where I live, almost everything is done by grade so everyone attending is on the same level of academic understanding. Therefore, my recommendation would be to go in the lowest program you qualify for. If your age puts you with grade 10 students, but you're only in grade 9, go...

Re: You know you're addicted to Space Camp-

54. You forget that your team mates have actual names because you only ever think of them using their call signs. Even when you aren't at camp. (On a recent trip to visit a Space Camp friend this summer the US border person asked me what the name of my friend was and I had to stop and really think a...

Re: Leaving in 4 days!!

Camp can go by in the blink of an eye, or so it seems. You may wish to record your adventure in photos and/or a journal. That being said, live the moment and enjoy every part of your camp experience. Be yourself and have fun! Things to bring: a water bottle, a towel, a day bag to carry your stuff ar...
