I called CanadaSpace or is it SpaceCanada?!

Hey, that was fun but I have unlimited long distance and found out she is included. It was really fun but she was telling me how to make something for my little space camp and it all involved measurements. It was pretty funny to do this international style (vs centimeters or inches). "Such and ...

Yikes! Does anybody, maybe Rich, know about the old 3G sim at SC? I had heard that someone was hurt (or maybe worse?) in an accident, but never had this confirmed. I did not go on it, so I don't know but I heard it was kind of a freak thing. The other thing, though nothing like that, was that they h...

LOL! I might do a bit better with an extra job for over the summer-- maybe $450 out of my price range. I'm going to bet that somehow (maybe stolen) some of my h.s. students next year are going to have it. They may be in the lower half of the income range for the country but they never let a thing li...

I guess what I mean was whether you have any control of the Shuttle or if you are just pushing buttons and moving the stick and watching a video. Today I told the kids we were going to get the Shuttle in orbit and then they could have a break and really go in orbit! ;-) --des I guess the whole topic...

The iPhone looks cool though, unlike Advar. (or is that for asthma?)
Though I'm guessing it will sell for about $600 or so. :-}

As for youtube, I have to stay away during the week. It's addictive.

Yikes, I would *never* do that. Besides the principal would probably kill us. (I'm referring to the teacher, she isn't popular among the kids either though.) --des They were talking on the radio last week about this teacher who has a bucket of water on his desk. If a phone goes off during class, he ...

At my little space camp we never got the simulator software to work. I found a video of a heads up display on youtube. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9elcSXVNlMw) It's pretty cool. I told the kids they weren't flying it, but I bet if I hadn't said anything, had big speakers under the chair, and hid...

Wow! Things changed even from 1987 to 1989 with Pathfinder and the new hab.
Thanks Rich.

The little video wasn't free when I got it, but it might have been free at one point. I thought it was a bit of a rip off on the price but I have played it a lot.

Hah! I have to share that with a friend of mine who loves these. I guess I will have to change planes from Southwest (just about the only airline that flies out of here). I have 3 1/2 more weeks of summer school and some real serious stuff to deal with my mom who has Alzheimers. I am still planning ...

Well except for the fact that I feel pretty worn out doing my little space camp with 9 5-6th graders, I feel pretty young too. I think your mom is right anyway. I always say, "YOu don't really get older, it just gets harder to get up off the floor." I am watching lots of comedy central lat...

Re: Space Camp Video from 1986-1992

Rich, I know what Rabbit Ears are, but I thought they were for getting reception on a tv (I mean without cable or satellite). I love Star Trek btw. BTW, do you or anybody else here remember a video that SC used to put out. I ran it not that long ago. It is maybe about 15 minutes long and includes hi...

Cell phones at Camp?! My goodness how times have changed. Some teams I had were a handful. I could only imagine what it would have been like with cell phones too. LOL I always have to fight with my h.s. students re: cell phone use. But even though I think all the kids I work with now have CD player...

HA! Funny thing, reminds of a similar event to one at my own little "space camp". Jim was putting in the simulator and we kept having problems with it and the electricity. I went to the front office of the school and said, "We're putting in the space shuttle and the power keeps going ...

Perhaps the Mother Ship reads this? Because that hiding everything is a bad idea!! Back in the day, there was even a huge multipart screen (actually modern enough to be done now) with scenes of SC looking out over the training floor. You could watch everything. I'm sorry about the changes in the mus...

Re: The long drive home

Oh gosh, someone my age, at least I think from the photo! I attended adult session in 1989 and AC a couple years later. That's it. It was still memorable even if I could never attend the Advanced program due to the month, still could not. The thing I really loved in AC was the zip line-- other water...

I sure didn't mean to imply that it was cool in the evening. Unlike in the Southwest it does NOT cool down there and the humidity is overwhelming. Kind of hits you in the face when you get off the plane! However the dorms are cold (or were). I was just freezing all the time. I wore the flight suit (...

In my real life I am a high school teacher, teaching learning disabled kids to read. This summer I am working for a school/camp program and doing a mini space camp. (We have done model rockets, various space science projects-- i.e. egg drop, etc., a "Mars exploration trip", and we also hav...
