Here's an example of how dumbed down things have become. Attached is the evaluation from my first mission at my first weekend camp back in 1991. Yes, we were graded on our performance.
P.S. Despite the counselor comment, there was one bobble.

Re: 2019?
I would hope that USSRC would keep the shuttle sims. They are the only sims based on real life counterparts. Orion 1.0 is just someone's guess, like a video game. I've not seen Orion 2.0 so I'm unable to speak from experience on that. However, I expect that it's more of the same.
Re: 2019?
BTW, at least one of the train cars at Aviation Challenge held a B-52 sim when it was delivered back in 1993. Full cockpit, nuclear blast curtains, etc. The staff was talking about doing integrated fighter/bomber sims. :) and USSRC cleared it all out to make office space :( I have no idea when or wh...
Re: 2019?
FYI No response to my direct question about mission time... No surprise there.. Also, I asked Smithsonian Journeys if any of the cost of their camp was considered a donation which might make attending more palatable. No response there, either...

Re: Smithsonian @ Space Academy
USSRC used to have an Adult Advanced Space Academy Elite. It was called Adult Advanced Space Academy back in 1993. This deal is a lot closer to what the Adult Space Academy was back in 1991.

Re: Smithsonian @ Space Academy
At least they let you know what you are getting for your money. Why USSRC chooses not to do something similar regarding their camps is beyond me.
P.S. I wonder if Smithsonian Journeys are part fundraiser.

Smithsonian @ Space Academy
3 days, $4K 2019 & 2020 (It says 5 days on the website yet day 1 is a reception/dinner while you leave on day 5.) 2 missions: lunar shuttle launch and mission to Mars https://www.smithsonianjourneys.org/tours/smithsonian-space-academy/details/ https://public-media.smithsonianjourneys.org/journey...
Re: 2019?
This is the response I received: Hello Michael, In response to your question about Adult Advanced Space Academy. It is based on the students version of Advanced Space Academy. It will have the same activities with the discussions and briefings being geared toward adults instead of the students. Marg...
Re: 2019?
I agree that the adult program content has declined and I have neither the time nor money to squander on another disappointing, frustrating, and, in a few ways, maddening experience. Yet at the same time, I am under some time pressure given Deby’s medical conditions. I have to go when I can and unfo...
Re: 2019?
There's an Adult Advanced Space Academy listed for 11/3. Since there's no description of the program on the website, I asked for a sample schedule. I am hoping that this will be like the Elite program. We'll see what comes back. P.S. On second look, it's priced way under the Elite camp yet significa...

Thank you, Wes for the continued follow-ups. Perhaps Space Race garnished USSRC's available cash.. The HOA where I live has tried that a few times when it had a judgement and found out where the defendant banked.

Restoration efforts
Wow! Pathfinder lost an elevon. Now if I could only get them to restore adult camps to what they were in the '90s.

Re: 2019?
Thank you for filling us in on weekend camp. Hopefully, USSRC was just out of the right name tags and separate shirts because somewhere there was a breakdown. Although giving the same shirt to everyone saves money, it's different than having your own unique group shirt. When we went on our Panama Ca...
Re: 2019?
What's the return rate for adult campers? Less than 5% I'd bet? That's an interesting question. I wonder if they even track those kinds of stats for all camps, not just adult. But I wouldn't imagine that's SC's target market for the adults who show up. That's another interesting question. What, if ...
Re: 2019?
I am going to go on a wee bit of a rant here. The adult camp page talks about learning what it takes to be an astronaut. Yet can you really do that in a one hour mission? That's barely enough time for a launch and landing, much less on orbit operations. The last time I participated in a one hour shu...

Please let us know how it goes. Hope that you have a great time!
Re: 2019?
I asked about this on Space Camp's Facebook page and was told that there are 2 1 hour missions during a weekend camp. OK, so why does the bottom of this page mention EDM?

Re: 2019?
USSRC posted on Facebook about openings for the Memorial Day weekend camp. I looked at that webpage and it seems to indicate that you perform 1 mission, an EDM, during the camp. (I'm guessing a 3 hour.) Does anyone know if that's correct?

Thanks for the info! Maybe I'll give Heather a call.. I do have some teaching experience and given that I'm retired, who knows? Just trying to think outside the box after my camp plans for this year fell through...
