it would be particularly awkward considering that I would LOVE to go to an alumni young adult camp - but I've been a counselor now for two seasons, and I'm currently a training team mentor. It would be incredibly weird for one of my co-workers to have me as a trainee - especially if I had a room in ...

it depends on if you're Mach II or Mach III - there's a difference - also, it depends on if you're talking about during E&E or during SEAL Ops.

One issue I see is that the primary age of counselors is that very age - and it's much different having a team with a counselor who is a peer versus having a team with a counselor who is older (or younger) than your team is. I'm not sure exactly how that fact would impact the program, but as it's di...

Hey Landon, I can't answer all your questions, because I have never worked ASA, but I went to ASA three times as a camper (as recent as 2003), so I'll try to answer your questions from that experience. First off, it is never required that you ride any of the simulators - if you don't like Space Shot...

this past week, we continued using the old one, with alpha outside and bravo inside. this is SUPPOSEDLY the last week the old one is being used - I'm not sure what they're gonna do after; my GUESS would be that they're planning on switching everyone over to the new Area 51. From what I understand, t...

this is the last week that the old area 51 is being used. Many of the same activities are still being done in the new one - but they're gonna be done a little bit differently (I haven't been trained on it yet, so don't ask me how it's gonna work yet).

that'll probably be the only time you'll ever wear it. course, we do give you one (in advanced and mach III only).

area 51 is not GONE, it's DIFFERENT. It's better (from what I hear - I'll let you know from first hand experience after next week, but it looks wicked awesome).

Does no one listen? Oh wait, stupid question - I know this answer; I'm a counselor. :-P

the area 51 that you're thinking of is no longer being used. A new high and low ropes course has been built in the former "Helicopter woods" down at AC, and fenced off, and that's where the new Area 51 is. As for the new proposal, I think they're planning on putting it where the old HR off...

most of the time, unless you've mastered taking off and landing quickly, as a Mach II, you may not get a chance to fly to the carrier and land there. If you do get to land on the carrier, you could do a touch and go, which involves taking back off - so really, if you can land on there, you can take ...

they drain the lake every winter. but this year, they're also working on flattening it out, so we can use more of it for free swim. Unfortunately, it's still not done, and I'm not sure yet when they will be done. So as of right now, we've got a big empty lake BED.

yes, but that's unrelated to their nighttime seal op, except that they both utilize the same skills (patrolling, etc.)

Basically, before E&E, you will do a SEAL Op. Once you've completed that mission, you need to escape and evade to the extraction zone from the enemy territory. You'll crawl through the woods in a low crawl until you reach the landing zone and are marked as safe. You may get caught by an enemy on...

I've heard sick used like that - but I've also heard sick to mean it's intended meaning. So I wasn't quite sure which meaning he meant - and since I couldn't hear how he said (I presume Rogue Leader is a he; correct me if I'm wrong), I asked for clarification. I've heard all kinds of crazy slang, bu...

you should be glad the tower didn't crash too. Sometimes when individual sims go over 50k, the tower will crash which requires it being rebooted AS WELL AS each of the sims. This can translate to over a 20 minute delay. Not fun when you've got another team coming in right afterward.

nope - all the sims (mach I, II, and III) have the 50k feet ceiling - different cockpits, same software.

I believe the correct altitude to avoid the SAMs in the sims is either 30k or 40k - I'm not sure offhand.

It's pretty good for what it is. With that said, the land detail isn't great, the other planes are often not great, and don't even think about trying to fly above 50k - you'll crash the sims that way. You don't fly these sims for the graphics - you fly them for the experience of being in a cockpit w...
