Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
There's a 4 day in December I saw no dates listed for adult space academy for the rest of 2014 after the 4-day in October (tried both check availablity and register now - attend before 9/27/2014 gives you the old website, attend after 9/28/2014 gives you the new). Only dates listed were 3-days for ...

Adult Advanced Space Academy
9/28-10/3
$949 + $50 registration fee....
Might be tempting if they listed the major activities somewhere... I would hate to take a flyer on my last week of vacation this year.

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
August 4-day is full, October looks to have 4 or more slots.
Unsure what they are doing to the website.... You have to "register" to look at 2015 dates (BTW, no 4-days listed).

Interesting that they use STS for SC but a F16 instead of a F35 for AC

Re: Weeklong Adult Space Camp
LOL and you're just about spot on based on CPI. Camp sure gives you less for your money these days.Conan wrote:I forgot to add that I would pay up to about $1600 for a week long camp. It was only about $1000 in 96, but I would expect to pay more now.

Re: Weeklong Adult Space Camp
I was unable to find the schedule for ASA 6-day from 1998 but the cost was $875. We had no outing or lunch with an astronaut so USSRC was already cutting back the price (and cost), probably due to declining attendance. Based on CPI, that same camp would run you $1,300 today.

Re: Weeklong Adult Space Camp
As a side note: At some of the earlier camps I went to, Konrad Dannenberg talked rocketry and toured Rocket Park with us. When the man said "Ve did this," he really meant it! I sure miss that man, RIP! He was one of the best resources that the USSRC had. Some of you may be acquainted with ...

Re: Weeklong Adult Space Camp
I dug out the Level II schedule from 1993, when a 7 day camp with a 24 EDM cost you $700. (Based on CPI, that would be $1,200 now.) I lumped a lot of the teaching sessions into miscellaneous (made it easier to summarize without going by track) but If anyone wants to see a copy, PM me and I'll run it...

Weeklong Adult Space Camp
What major activities would you expect for a weeklong camp? For reference purposes, the weekend adult camp activities (26 1/2 hours total spread over 3 days) are: 3 shuttle missions (training & mission) - 10 1/2 hours (8 1/2 in sims) miscellaneous (including meals) - 8 hours rocket construction ...

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
I agree to disagree. :) No one is asking for a detailed schedule, just a listing of major activities. No matter how many public and private camps are in session at one time, the USSRC has finite resources available, i.e., there are only so many hours in the day and so many simulators. There must be ...

Re: Win A Trip to Space Camp for Your Family
Rules require the attendance of at least one child (between 7 and 18 years old), so I never even tried it before posting the link because kids are too old, grandkids too young. I tried it now and was able to enter. It gives you the answers at the end, a promo code (spacecamp) for 15% off at http://w...

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
No return call today.... :( Two thoughts occurred to me on the long commute home tonight. First, why doesn't USSRC use standardized schedules for camp sessions? That would seem to be more cost effective instead of reinventing the schedule regularly. Second, there is only one Space Camp session (per ...

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
I called today and ended up leaving a message for the Camp Director. The first answer I received was that the extra day would mean an extra mission. However, they would not know if it was an Orion or shuttle mission until they determined equipment availability a few weeks beforehand. It all depends ...

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
There was a certain commonality between the adult camps but you knew the major adds when you registered for Level II or ASA as the brochure had them. Corporate, you get what you pay for. "Guess what guys, it's time to embrace the horror!" -'Rockhound' in the film, Armageddon Moon buggy wit...

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
No one has asked them for a detailed schedule, just a listing of major activities, e.g., 3 shuttle missions, rocket construction & launch, multi axis & 1/6 trainers, AC, IMAX movie, team photo, mission patch. (That’s roughly the 3 day.) All I want is the major pieces, not the completed puzzl...
