Re: Anomalies on Adult camp missions, realistic or silly?

Someone who I haven't seen post here in a very long time is rkolker. His legendary Enterprise Team trailblazed the very first Advanced Academy curriculum and sims back in the mid-80s. They used to do some serious stuff as far as sims go, almost JSC level. I think they even did missions where they re...

Re: Anomalies on Adult camp missions, realistic or silly?

Here is the Space Camp page about Corporate Camps: https://www.spacecamp.com/corporate It's the ultimate Space Camp experience in my opinion, since you can custom-build your curriculum, but there is a minimum number of people you need to go. I think it's something like 10 or 12. Finding that many fo...

Re: Anomalies on Adult camp missions, realistic or silly?

I think it all depends on who your crew trainers are that week, and how much fun they want to have with you. Perhaps they feel they need to throw the kitchen sink at a group of uber space nerds and alumni veterans in order to challenge them, whereas the more casual general public "green" t...

Re: Confession Time: I've Never Seen Space Camp

For me, it's fun to watch just to see how much the Space Camp facilities have changed since those early days. And there's also the '80s nostalgia factor. You should probably watch it just so you can get Space Camp movie references and quotes.

Re: Patch Pioneer / May 2017 ASA

The anomalies these days are ridiculous. It's one of the reasons I have not gone back as an adult. In the 80s and early 90s, the anomalies during the missions were reasonable and realistic. Perhaps with so many ADHD kids these days, there's a need to keep them more engaged.

I couldn't find a Magnus or a Hall that matched her public birthdate. So looks like you're SOL.

Happened to me, too, when I first tried the search. Make sure you include the slashes when you type your birthday.

My understanding was the SLS building would be separate from the connector building. Sort of a "Davidson Center II" located directly behind the Davidson.

Re: Space Camp 35th Anniversary Retrospective Video - What Would You Like to See?

Any kind of retrospective should be nostalgic . I think the video should show the humble beginnings, old photos and video clips and memorabilia along with commentary from those who were there. Ed Buckbee, Dr. B, etc. Maybe even have some ex counselors from the early days telling their stories. The s...

Re: The Mars Generation Movie

I'm willing to bet you'll be able to get a DVD copy in the Rocket Center gift shop as soon as they are available! Ownership is always better than relying on a streaming connection. I'll agree that the Mars-push stuff seemed a bit long-winded. But I didn't mind at the time I saw it. I was happy to ge...

Re: Last mission for Atlantis

The first "real" shuttle sims at Space Camp were Discovery and Columbia. Not sure which one came first. Columbia was the sim for the younger Camp kids and Discovery for the teenage campers. Discovery was the sim being used in the movie where Kevin crashes and burns on their training missio...

New Orion sim!

A new Orion sim is being built where Atlantis used to sit. It will be up and flying for trainees attending this summer.

Re: Last mission for Atlantis

I would hope she would be restored back to movie quality and put in a future museum shuttle exhibit. But I'm guessing they'll use another one of the orbiter sims for that, maybe Endeavour. From what I hear, parts of Atlantis will be auctioned off at this year's Summerfest.

The movie was awesome! Great promo for Space Camp and the push for manned Mars flights. Lots of familiar faces in the movie, too! Very well done and a must-see for everyone here!

Welcome back, Kale! I doubt I'll be able to meet you the week before Summerfest, as I'll be getting ready for the big event during that time. Too bad ya can't put your trip off a week, you sure are missing a great event! The A-12 isn't quite on the stick just yet. They're just now getting it strippe...

Re: Alabama Space And Rocket Center Patch

Yeah, we all know about the red patches and why they exist. Blachwk has encountered an extremely rare variant and was inquiring about that. My guess is they just needed a white one to put on white "spacesuits" or something at the museum where the red patches didn't quite work as well.

If I recall correctly, the amphitheatre is a part of Phase II of the project, and will have its own fundraiser. I expect we'll find out more about that after the ribbon cutting on July 13.
