Re: Adult Week 2013?

I'm sorry to see this idea fall through. Sadly even if it had not there was no way i could have come close to affording that. Right now even a weekend camp would be out of my price range. Ask Hotdog when i went down for the 30th anniversary weekend this summer i was eating peanut butter sandwiches t...

Re: Bubble simulator

I remember riding it in 91 and maybe 93 but definately 91. Was similar to the space shot few seconds iof weightlesness when you reached the top just a much smaller scale than space shot. We were also not allowed to stear it we were told it was too easy to flip the thing upside down. As i recall the ...

Re: Changing names on the shuttle simulators?

I doubt enterprise was ever named Discovery mainly since it was not used till the late 80s probably 87 when the new training center opened. The 88 brochure has the training center picture with Enterprise with no name and the 89 and the current discovery was nowhere to be seen but by the 89 brochure ...

Re: Changing names on the shuttle simulators?

Oh i just realised you posted something about the movie as well. Actually the space camp simulator Atlantis that is currently on the training center floor was used for the movie filming atleast the interior parts. I have heard the Enterprise cargo bay was used for the exterior shots

Re: Changing names on the shuttle simulators?

Enterprise i'm not really sure about. I have seen a camp brochure from 88 that shows it with no name at all on the side. Considering parts of it were used namely the cargo bay from what i understand in the space camp movie which was filmed in 85 it could have been intended to be Challenger but this ...

Re: SC jackets, anyone have one?

I was diusapointed we didnt get the chaance to get one when i worked there because i had seen them before and wanted one then was told nope summer hires didnt get them. Part of it may also have been we were all hired as AC and we early on in training the co...

Re: SC jackets, anyone have one?

Well come to think of it the red swoosh that comes outside of the blue on mine is pealing a bit. the main part of the patch is sewn on but i think they glued the thinner red parts coming out of the blue probably because they are so narrow. I think my jacket is made by flight line and amazingly was m...

Re: SC jackets, anyone have one?

Oh one other thing the counselor jackets have a differnt layout. The ones i have always seen that only counselors had access too had the american flag as usual. the NASA meatball on the right sleave, a space camp and aviation challenge patch one on each the breast and the spot for a name tag. The on...

Re: SC jackets, anyone have one?

Depending on when the counselors were hired would determine whether they were given the oppurtunity to get the counselor jackets with place for name tag and space camp and AC patches. I was a summer hire in 07 we were not given the option at all. They were not even going to issue us sweat shirts exc...

Re: Possible New Space Camp Logo

Very true there is also a good chance as i told Brian that this has been in the works for some time the decision and the logo may also be a done deal and regardless of opinion it may not change. decisions like these often are done alot frther out than most people realise.

Re: Possible New Space Camp Logo

If they are going with this or another new logo it might explain why they are not selling the older design in patches and pins as discussed in a previous topic.

Re: Possible New Space Camp Logo

Ok i figured a new logo might be in the works but really i think i could do better and i have no art talent. Put the ISS put Orion or even a generic capsule but that is just ugly in my opinion.

Re: Shirts

The shirt with the three tracks on the top pisture was that pre 97? I believe it was a design i've only seen once before in the 25th anniversary display and was for the Academy level 2 program. I remember reading many years agho in an old space camp news that they were designing an emblem for academ...

Re: SC pins?

I doubt theyd have the info seems like the best bet would be alumni to put information together pool it and figure out what came into being when. Space Camp doesnt even seem to keep what programs were what straight sometimes as evidenced by my previous comments about AC program names. I thibnk it wo...

Re: SC pins?

They might have used them for parent child as well the shuttle wings that is i honestly dont remember. i know when i worked there they were not given out to regular adult or regula week long youth programs. I never worked parent child camps so i don't know but i'd say its a good bet.

Re: SC pins?

The full color logo wings are really hard to find it seems i have never been able to get ahold of a pair either. They were given to space Academy Level 2 trainees before it became Advanced Space Academy in 1997. The shuttle wings are i believe given to Astrotrek trainees or one of the other school b...

Re: SC pins?

The wings the counselors have on their name tags have a shuttle orbiter in the middle if they are the same ones used by counselors in 07. The wings are out there because they are awarded for one of the school programs i believe its astrotrek. I have a pair i got ahold of while working at Ac in 07 so...

Re: Space Camp flight suit differences and details...

Space Camp Level 2 from what i understand did indeed become space Academy Level 2. From what i have been able to figure out space Camp opened and was probably most similar to the modern day space camp program. Not sure about the ages originally though. There were no other programs as the program gre...
