Re: Space Camp 35th Anniversary Retrospective Video - What Would You Like to See?
A retrospective video showing clips from each earlier year might be good. I know that a video was made of my Parent/Child program in 1994 and lots of campers probably have other videos that they made over the years. I have a really nice one from my 1996 camp. I transferred them to DVD.
Re: 2018
Some difference are: Longer missions and more of them. Your longest mission is at least 6 hours and sometimes 12. Also, in the week long academy, the scuba training is included. There is usually a tour of Marshall Space Flight Center, but you must be an American citizen for that one, although the no...

Re: New Orion sim!
I just signed up for an Orion mission at the Summer Fest. Maybe I will get to try the new Orion simulator. Looking forward to it. Is anyone else going to Summer Fest?

Re: The Mars Generation Movie
I watched it last night too. It was great. I loved watching the Mars mission. I wonder if the equipment actually worked for them. We had lots of problems in 15 when I was on that mission. The beginning did make me think that our missions would benefit from an awesome soundtrack. I also liked that th...

Re: Additional Item Purchases When Registering For Camp
I would agree with the others on the Flight Suit. I have gone through 3 in my many camps. I also have brought 6 nephews to Family Space Camps over the years. I always bought them a flight suit too. They aren't cheap but the feeling of belonging that it gave them was worth it and they cherish their s...

Re: Adult Week Long October 2016
I completely understand what you are saying. I am sure that PK told you that we had one difficult person on our team last year. The rest of the team, however, was so great that it made up for it. We had Bob Springer as our Astronaut-Counselor and it was also amazing and a great learning experience. ...

Re: Adult Week Long October 2016
Watch out for the Hurricane hitting mission control anomaly that we got hit with two years ago, when I was on Challenger Team in August. It is more topical this year. One of our MOCR crew was killed by a live wire that time. Have a great time all of you. Wish I could have come this year, but I am ho...

Re: Visit Marshal Space Flight Center during ASA?
Last year at the Advance Adult Academy in October, we DID get a bus tour to Marshall included, but those who weren't American citizens stayed behind and had a different activity with our Astronaut Trainers. They were not disappointed and neither were those of us who got to go to Marshall.

Towels. You share a bathroom and towels are not provided. A camera of whatever type you prefer. Many use their phones these days. Last time, I brought a GoPro. Slippers or socks to wear when walking to the restrooms. Bare feet aren't allowed in the hab. ( I wouldn't want to anyway, considering how m...

Re: 'The Cape' TV show
I loved that show. It was a pity it didn't last. I was hoping they would eventually release it on DVD so I could buy the set. I even have a T-shirt that they sold with the show logo on it. I will check it out on Youtube. Thanks.

Space Camp Turkey
Is there any news about whether the coup in Turkey is affecting Space Camp Turkey? I have heard that educators are being arrested, but I haven't been able to find anything online as to whether Space Camp is OK.

I was there last October and it was amazing. But, as you say, it is a lot of coin so I will be on Team Vandenberg this year. I will be jealously watching for your reports and photos. Enjoy!

Re: Question from first time
I was the Public Affairs Officer for the Mars mission last October. But I also had a second MOCR position, EGIL, I think. Anyway, if they do what they said in the focus group, it will be much more interesting. I had to write up short press releases throughout the mission and go to a podium outside o...

Re: Question from first time
I have done several positions in the past. My favorite has always been Mission Specialist because I like doing the EVAs and fixing things. Also, on a long duration mission, you do half on the orbiter and half in the space station, so you get to be MS1 or 2, or Space Station Specialist 1 or 2. Someti...

Re: Orbiter mockup at the old Florida STS departs...
Sad to see it go. I attended the Florida camp with my nephew many years ago. We used that in our missions. It was the one time I tried the Florida camp and I thought then and still think that the original camp in Huntsville is much better. Still, it was nice to have tried it the one time.

Re: Another fire at the center!
I was in the middle of my EDM when the fire alarm went off for real in 2000. We had to evacuate the Training Center floor and head outside. It was quite hectic since I was in the airlock at the time. Turns out it was caused by an experiment being done in the Space Station module that set off the smo...

Re: Astronaut Hall of Fame aka Space Camp Florida
It sounds like they are running the something like a 3-day camp squeezed into 5 hours. Pretty intense, although I doubt that there is much depth.
