Back during Alumni camp 2008 I predicted the cut of the Constellation program by the current administration and got shouted down. I'm not here for an "I told you so", but I would like to reiterate something else I said then. If Space Camp is to survive without an active manned space progra...

If you've never been to the Space and Rocket center before it would be a good idea. 3-day camp is so crammed with things to do from daylight until after dark that you really don't have a chance to just wander around at your leisure.

The stage separation problem is an easy answer. With no engine to push it along, the empty second stage just started flying formation with the empty first stage.

As much as I love the space program, I still say this was nothing more than a stunt. I mean, let's look at what was launched; A 4 segment SRB, just like they've been launching since 1981. 1 dummy SRB section 1 dummy second stage 1 dummy capsule 1 dummy escape system Did they ever try and launch a Sa...

The Space & Rocket Center keeps one handy to make sure the Atlas in Rocket Park is inflated. When the temperature changes, the skin on the Atlas is so thin it will collapse if it's not pressurized. 8O

I hate to say this but you might try some of the "The Moon Landing never Happened" web sites. One of the nutcase theories is that the astronauts couldn't have had their sun shield up because they would have been blinded by the Sun. I'm sure they'd have pictures. :?

Dan:

I don't know how your planning to go, but when I drive to Huntsville from Atlanta, I go west on I-20 to Anniston Al, then North on 431 to Huntsville.

Have a good trip.

I was hoping to see you there for the 30th Yeah, two discs in my neck replaced with ceramic ones, three vertebra fused, a titanium plate, two titanium rods and twelve screws. I could do the missions, but no sims. On the bright side, I'm...

R.I.P. Walter Cronkite

Twice voted "The Most Trusted man in America". Dead at 92.

I never watched anyone else during the space race. The only time I ever saw him speechless was right after the Apollo 11 landing on the Moon.

I have a signed numbered print of Al Bean's "Heavenly Reflections" painting hanging in my office. I enjoy the little additions that he puts in his artwork. He covers his plywood with plaster and while the plaster is setting he uses things like his moon boot and rock hammer to make imprints...

Apparently the good news is that the tapes were found, the bad news is that they were erased and overwritten with data from later Apollo missions. NASA TV has been showing clips from their attempts to digitally enhance the TV footage, and there was a press conference about it at the Newseum t...
