Leaving the Team
I remember when I first attended the Level II Adult Academy in 1996. Our team was so close that we were all depressed after we left and the emails flew back and forth (No forum like this was available then). Almost all of us got sick with colds afterward, too! We met for reunions several times after...

August Alumni Camp
If you hear a loud rumbling sound, it is my teeth grinding in frustration because I won't be there! I will be thinking of all of the fun you are having, so make sure to share it all with us when you return.

Happy Moon Landing Anniversary!
Happy Moon Landing Anniversary to all. Just think, only 38 years ago was the first time we could say "If they can put a man on the moon, why can't they......." !!

Mac Computer
I just got a new IMAC computer (as a gift!). Does anyone know of any good space or shuttle simulations for the IMAC? It's great for video editing and I plan to have a lot of fun with current and future Space Camp videos. I'm planning to get a new camcorder before I return next October and put togeth...

Ashes into Space
I have often thought it would be cool, when I die, to have my ashes shot into space. Recently some companies have begun to offer this service. They only use a small portion of a person's ashes and they don't really go into orbit. I read about the ashes of Wally Schirra and James Doohan, among others...

Age
Rich has me beat too! I'm 51 but I always say, it doesn't matter how old you are as long as you refuse to act your age!! I feel younger every time I come home from Space Camp or Aviation Challenge.

Geezer Counselor
I have been telling my family for years that I would retire to Huntsville and be an old lady Space Camp volunteer. It sure would beat shuffleboard in Florida. It is getting to be a closer possibility each day!

Experiments
Okay, here are a few ideas off the top of my head: EVAs to plance on and retrieve materials from the outside of the station to study the effects of space on different materials. EVAs to repair, retract, extend solar arrays as necessary EVAs to examine, repair damage to docked orbiter or micro-astero...

Team Size
I don't agree with just scrapping the Payload/Space Station specialists. I think that these positions have been less popular because not enought time and effort was put into developing them in the simulations. If they were doing more challenging experiments and EVAs as part of their experiments, the...
Hab 1
It is really nice when you attend the Parent/Child program with a child of the opposite gender. I have attended several times with my nephews and each time, we got the whole room (on the 3rd floor) to ourselves. The rest of the times I went, I was on the fourth floor or in Earhart Bay at AC. I prefe...

Parent/Child Florida
I took my nephew to the Parent/Child Program in Florida in 2000. We were on team Andromeda and our counselor was Ryan Smith. I remember thinking that it wasn't nearly as good an experience as at Huntsville.

Space Madness
In 1996, I was a mission specialist on Enterprise returning with my fellow MS from an EVA when we were trapped in the airlock by a power failure. She was the one the counselor whispered to and I was the one who had to throw myself on top of her when her claustrophobia caused her to try to exit into ...

The thing that I remember most from my first visit was that the Hab-1 building had just opened. They were still working on it and the first night the sawdust tripped off the fire alarm. My friends and I managed to jump into our blue suits before we rushed outside! That at 3 in the morning! We were c...

Yoda in a box
The wookie phone story reminds me of when I was moving and had inadvertently packed my motion-activated Yoda without removing the batteries. As the movers picked up the box to load, we could clearly hear Yoda saying: "Put me down you will, Like this I do not!" It really freaked out the mov...

Conan weighs in
After reading the posts from the rest of you, I am sure glad that I drove to camp and back. My 10.5 hour drive was made with no anomalies in either direction and beautiful flight conditions. My luggage arrived with me! I learned from past airline problems that it can take less time to drive than to ...
