While I still maintain it could definitely happen, it isn't likely to do really well as a simulation (unless maybe you have SpaceCanada on your team. She makes an excellent psychotic nutcase. :-p However, we only did pretty realistic ones. For instance, we did an ATO. faulty sensors and that sort of...

Refitting a bus is quite expensive, what they should do is try to find a used one, if they don't already have one. If they are really serious (and they should be) about disabled campers and staff they need to do this. There are also temporary disabilities. I sure hope they are really planning on sta...

Hey Empress, nice lecture. I tried to stay quiet and not listen to my iPod and put my cell phone on vibrate! :-) BTW, you all are mentioning Finding Nemo. Now gosh, you want to get a really serious aquarium nut ticked, just say Nemo. Though I loved parts of it, it also got all these kids buying clow...

They can't fill them? I'm thinking there is a big down turn in interest in space, esp spending any serious amount of time or money on it. Of course this has been going on for years. I have been so surprised the low interest in my own little camp with a very high tech flight simulator; rocket launche...

Though you have to admit it could happen. Heck, it did happen, though not in space. You know the gal who drove halfway across the country wearing Attends to try and kill the woman that had her man. Now supposedly this was a woman who passed all the various screenings NASA has done-- which I am sure ...

No problem. I have a Windows 98 box and that's all it's for really. (I also have Open Office on it so that I can do work at home-- so maybe I will.) I also have a few other games on it. (Normally I run a Mac). I found Shuttle and got it going today (thanks to a un-zip program). I couldn't figure it ...

It won't run native on anything later than Windows 9* boxes. There is an emulator program called DosBox, and it runs on that. Actually better in some ways as you can use a USB joystick. It also runs at the right speed (there might be problems trying to run it on a Pentium of any sort, as it might go...

Yea! Well you try teaching space science for 5 days a week for 3 weeks and see if you can stop yourself. But I'm still sorry!! If I meet Mike Mullaine (he MIGHT come to our little camp in July) I'll ask him if he stands those kind of rides. Of course there is still that right stuff idea in NASA. So ...

The no. of people trying to tempt fate by stepping out of rides, taking off harnesses (even holding onto rails) is just amazing. Some people consider themselves invincible. I'm afraid they are the same ones doing all sorts of crazy things on the highways as well. I also think that these rides are ge...

I am considering it. Unfortunately, I have to go to St. Louis first and deal with some unpleasant stuff with my mother who has Alzheimers. So I get done with summer camp/school; go to St. Louis; go to Huntsville, and then school starts again. I was thinking how stressful that sounded. SC is fun but ...

Well to turn this discussion a little more serious and space related, space sickness isn't really motion sickness in the usual sense and, if at all related, not entirely. There is no really good predictor on earth, even the Vomit Comet. Space sickness is believed to be caused by the inability to tel...

The movie definitely got people to the real space camp, even though it was pretty much a B movie, imo. And wasn't high budget and didn't run that long. At the time, they also ran ads in magazines like Air and Space Smithsonian, Astronomy, etc. I think they are hoping Google ads now are enough. --des...

Accidents and deaths happen in rides all over the country, and rarely are the shut down for good. But it has happened. There was a ride usually called something like the Wild Rat. I don't know that this ride exists anymore. It was a ride (I wouldn't have done it) that did very sharp turns-called, at...

Binary Star does all the software for the big expensive simulations. You can tell they are expensive, because no place on their website do they say how much their software is, and they don't sell to individuals anyway. But back when they also made this really cheapo software called Precision Approac...
