Hotdog wrote:found an interesting piece of old Camp memorabilia - the Space Camp shuttle board game from 1989! Still in new condition too!
I wonder if this game is still in print?
Doesn't appear to be.
I don't think the company that made it - Solar Wind Toys exists anymore either.

I made the changes you suggested, Hotdog. Gt, I took the nose boom off, but I don't know if you're really going to be able to tell the difference between the planes. It's only a 3" patch. True. Although the coloring is different (JSF at this point is still flat grey while F-22 has the darker a...

If you're going to go with the F-22, make sure to take the nose boom off of it. Also, I still would prefer the JSF/F-35, as it's used by three services, rather than just the Air Force and will be flown by more international militaries. It actually looks very similiar to the F-22 but is smaller and h...

Actually NASA's work force is becoming younger. And its becoming a real problem. We waited so liong to go back to the moon alot of the skills that were learned in Apollo are being lost because so many engimneers with those skills are retired or are retiring and the younger ones domnt have them. NAS...

I like the idea of changing the rocket to a jet. Not sure what you would use, but an F-35 might be cool, as its going to be flown by the Air Force, Marines and Navy. And it's the future of US fighters. Also, what about changing the number of stars to 5, one for every five years Space Camp has been a...

Not having cable, I'm a late adopter. But thanks to DVDs and a coworker with a DVD hooked up to a VCR I've been able to keep up to date pretty well. I have vague memories of seeing the original series. Dad liked it. But I haven't seen enough to form an opinion of it. The new series however, I think ...

Top Gears launches Reliant Shuttle

The British TV show Top Gears apparently moded a small vehicle to look like a shuttle and then launched it. Not entirely good on the "reusable launch vehicle" bit, but pretty impressive all the same. There's video at: http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/22/top-gear-builds-launches-space-shuttl...

I've never really liked Blue Planet. I find it slow and on the boring side. Roving Mars is pretty good. Lots of stuff from the engineering side, the difficulties of making the craft work, etc. Mostly tells the good stuff and the successes, little about the setbacks. My favorite is still The Dream is...

Or how about JSF?
Yeah. I've worked on both programs.
What about them? Neither can do the job of the V-22 but both are needed by the US military (in my opinion and not just because I work for a military aviation company).

DARGH! Okay, I understand the reasons behind the rule (and the rules at all of the various places that restrict pocket knives), but it also frustrates me. In so many ways, it's just trading the appearance of security for the inconvenience of many, many people. Pocket knives aren't weapons - they're ...

I don't know if they would let you use a multi-tool knife (Leatherman, Gerber, Swiss Army, etc.) at Space Camp. Adult camp maybe (because adults can get away with a lot more) but probably not for the youth camps. Yeah, as I was typing that I was kinda wondering. When I went to SA and ASA in the lat...

Landon, when I was younger, I was a lot like you. Not homeschooled, but just didn't really fit in with kids my age. I never had a lot of friends, mostly because I wasn't into what everyone else was. My interests laid more in science, space flight, technology, history rather than the latest in popula...

Actually, I can think of a variety of reasons to bring a laptop to camp. Taking notes in lectures, pulling photos off your digital camera (and those of your team mates) and making CDs for everyone at the end of camp not to mention having a daily slideshow at like dinner or something, and writing a j...

I still have my Level I, black ball cap from summer of 1989. I think it may still have my name tag on it. I was on Rockwell team. Unfortunately, I'm not sure where my wings from that trip are. I know where my (new design and much cooler) wings are from when I did Level II in summers of 1991 and 1992...

F-35 Lightening II Joint Strike Fighter First Flight!

It's been a long time coming, but the first F-35 JSF Lightening II (also known as AA-1, F-35 Junior and X-35D to some of us in cubeville) had it's first flight earlier today. About 12:40pm (central time), to the cheers of the assembled employees (and many others lining the road outside of the plant,...

I thought about the 8 day program but time and money prevented me from doing it in 2007. Most it's the time. I'm already kinda stretched for vacation time. The fact that one of the adult sessions is scheduled over Labor Day weekend and I've got an off-Friday at the end of that week means I'll only h...

Spacecanada, thanks so much for the information. Sounds like the program is pretty much what I figured it would be, which is great. Makes me want September to come along sooner than ever. I'm sure as my session date gets closer I'll have more detailed questions for people. Reading different people's...
