I've been told to get sick, and even pass out, but not "go crazy", and I don't like the scenario. There are sufficient reasonable scenarios to liven up a long sim without silliness like that.

There appears to be either a size limit or a format requirement on posting pictures. I've been unable to post any of mine from Gallery, which is why I've used links where necessary.

Konrad Dannenberg is (because he's still around) one of the original Peenemunde group who came over and helped design rockets from the Redstone to the Saturn V. For many years he gave a lecture on propulsion for Space Camp, and in 1987, also gave us a walking tour of the rocket park. Here is a short...

Planning has begun on the first Enterprise Team session since 1996. We're looking at an 8 day session in October of 2008. Since priorities mean nothing :) , planning started with designing the patch. http://rkolker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=2848&g2_serialNumber...

The most important thing is that you enjoy yourself. They WILL teach you enough at camp to get through the missions. Flying them better adds to the enjoyment IMHO. Pick out what interests you most, and get to know more about that. If you enjoy the subject, you'll enjoy the learning.

I'm watching the mission DVD and my first comment is, it loses a lot not having both sides of the communications link. You hear either mission control, or the orbiter, but not both.

You have such great experiences - riding the KC-135 with Canadian astronauts - wow! The world is full of great experiences. My rules for finding and taking advantage of them... 1. Look - Keep your eyes open. You never know when an opportunity is going to come up. The Vomit Comet flight happened bec...

I am actually surprised that none of your diehard team went to the 'first/new' alumni 8-day adult session in 2004. There are many groups that stick together over the years. It is nice to see so many enthusiasts! We all kinda lost track of what was going on at Space Camp since nobody was attending. ...

Putting on my old reporter hat... First of all, this looks like a freak accident, but until the accident investigation is completed, we can't tell. They have to look at things like maintenance, inspections and design before they can tell for sure what was the underlying cause. This is why NTSB inves...

More from 1986... Here's what an EVA looked like back then. There were two tasks - building a tetrahedron, and repairing Hubble. This is some of the first of those, using three people. It starts up with a special experiment the team arranged: "The Effect of Enhanced Radiation on Native American...

We had one member (Greg/Rockhound) on my adult team who has been to the adult camp for years and years. Actually, most of them had been coming to the adult sessions every year for many years... Check my team photo and see if any of my adult team mates (from the alumni 8-day camp in 2004) are on you...

I'm sure you'll have a great time. Since you're on the pilot track, I'd see if I could find a copy of the space shuttle operator's manual (still available on amazon) and follow along the ascent and entry checklists using the cockpit layouts included. The checklists aren't exactly the same as ASA, bu...

Re: I know nothing!!!

I know nothing about Enterprise Team! I'll deny EVERYTHING!!! - Oh wait - it's in my signature, isn't it... Hey Rich - You are missing at least 3 patches that I can tell - the horizontal rectangular blue one, MY PATCH, and the last triangular ET patch. Those are the last three ET sessions, I think....

Here's a look at Space Camp's facilities in 1987 - the year the training floor opened. The bubble was still around. Pathfinder had just arrived and was sitting in the parking lot. They had started using Atlantis and OV-105 (now Enterprise), both which had started life as sets for the movie Space Cam...

Just a suggestion. Instead of waiting for Space Camp to set up an Alumni session every year, work with them and organize it using this site. If the alumni come as an organized group, they can work with SC management to provide the experience they are looking for. This is what we have done in the pas...

My Mom tells me she doesn't understand how her body isn't 25 because he mind still is! :D

Re: Space Camp Video from 1986-1992

Rich, I know what Rabbit Ears are, but I thought they were for getting reception on a tv (I mean without cable or satellite). I love Star Trek btw. BTW, Rich, were you in the first Adult space camp? --des We hooked up a set of rabbit ears to a VCR (it may have been Beta) in the basement of what is ...

Well, since I was commanding the ascent portion of the second sim, I should probably complain about the Flight director bailing out on me, except since I only talk to the capcom, I didn't know until later :D The biggest disappointment was the sims. They didn't take into account these were experience...
