Re: Early Photos

Richard, you nailed it in this post. The first pic is 1988 and the the other pic is def 1990 since it includes the Endeavour sim and the MARS ride in front of Enterprise. Again the devil is in the details here. The second pic is 91 at the earliest but probably 92. In 91 Columbia Mission control was...

Re: vintage Space Camp memorabilia!

Ok i know this is an old thread and i do not have pictures of this to show currently but i just recently completed a historic part of my space camp patch collection. Back when there was a Space Camp Level 1 and a space Camp level 2 program in the 80s each level 2 team was bnamed for a space shuttle....

Re: Space Camp flight suit differences and details...

Yeah i've never seen these on the market anywhere. I can tell you that once upon a time the diffrent colors were used to denote the three tracks for Space Academy Level two. Aerospace (pilot) Engineering (mission Specialist) and i think the third was Technology (Payload Specialist) I believe Green w...

Re: Pre-modern Sims

Kale just found some pictures taken in the Atlantis cockpit in its glory days of the late 80s. i remember seeing it look like this in 93 but had no pictures to support what i remember but it shows the cockpit looked much more complete than Enterprise did when i went in the late 90s. Also for a compa...

Re: Early Photos

One other clue the second pic is 92 is the trainees in the back working with the LDEF replica i remember it being mentioned in a space camp news sometime between my 91 and 93 trip. But that second link is much closer to 91 than the others.

Re: Early Photos

Skylab was in the building till atleast 96 i don't remember if it was in 98 or not but along with skylab was a large solar panel that remained there well into the 2000's and believe was still there even in 2007. Your right on the training center floor the link you just posted looks like right after ...

Re: Early Photos

I'd guess that training center picture is more like 88 or 89 than 91 so its even older. Key features that tell you this. Columbia still has a nise in the front it was later chopped down to just the crew compartment. The motion based Endeavour sim which came along in 1990 is nowhere to be seen. The S...

Re: Pathfinder when it was new at Huntsville...

I think this was just a fit test. I remember back in 2008 i believe it was the front of Pathfinder suffered some damage the lowere chin for lack of abetter description dropped out and fell onto the ET where it came to rest. From the pictures i saw it was an empty hollow shell and looked like it was ...

Re: Pathfinder when it was new at Huntsville...

That leads to the question were the overhead windows actual windows? The cockpit windows appear to be real from the pictures of Pathfinder being refurbished but you cant see the overhed windows vey clearly in any picture so they may be painted on like the RCS. Ofcourse looks like the whole forward f...

Re: SC Ambassador program? Anyone here in that program?

Sounds pretty typical of the space and rocket center. People move around there all the time some up some down some out. And sadly some things never get the backing they deserve. Like this alumni advisory board they have recenty started looking for members for. Hotdog and i took a proposal for someth...

Re: SC Ambassador program? Anyone here in that program?

Sounds like something we can try to encourage them to improve. Even if we couldnt get several copies it would be easy enough to send a request for the new brochure each year but that only gets you one copy which would still be good for display

Re: SC Ambassador program? Anyone here in that program?

Good to know. I didn't sign up fpor the program for free admission anyway but would have been a nice perk. Even some passes or something i believe would be a good idea simply to make it easier on ambassadors to beable to visit and keep up with what;s current at the space center.
