Re: 2018
I am debating a camp this year because I know people attending in September yet I am disappointed in the sample schedules. Camp time and more importantly to me, mission time, keeps shrinking in comparison to the good 'ol days. I've heard this from others as well, that back in the day, there was mor...
Re: 2018
The big question: who is going to Space Camp this year? Not me, unfortunately. Nor I. My wife and I spent three weeks in the UK/Europe in May, so that expended all the time off (and a lot of money) for this year in regard to going anywhere fun. We didn't see anything space related (even though our ...

Re: SpaceCamp Anniversary
I wasn't aware of the date that the movie was first released. That said, I do remember seeing it new in the theaters right after it first came out. I grew up within a few hours drive of space camp as a kid, but there was no way I was ever going to go when I was young. I grew up in a house where we d...

It'll probably have an odd musical number somewhere on it, then.
It'll probably be better than Space Warriors, I'd bet.

Re: Luna Replicas
I took a really good look at the jackets. As much as I would love to have one of the yellow ones, I'd like to see,one in person first. The outside might be right, or very close, but I do wonder about the linings. I've been lucky enough to see a couple of real ones over the years, and took a real goo...

The OTHER STA...
I thought you'd like this, photos of the other STA airplane. This one is at the Evergreen aviation museum in McMinnville, Oregon (where the Howard Hughes "Spruce Goose" plane resides today). Sadly, she's stuck in the back of the parking lot, not far from several modern USAF fighters. They ...

Re: Astronaut Wings: new order!
I had no idea that company made them; I'll be sure to tell people about that option after this run is complete if anyone else wants one. I had some made by Jennifer in the first run; and they look perfect. Just an FYI, SC hall of famer Hoot Gibson was the one who designed these wings. Hoot told me t...

Re: Smell
Smells can be funny. Growing up in Florida, I had terrible sinus problems and had a crummy sense of smell until I got out of there (it came in handy in the Army, though, not being able to smell much of the time). The idea of a smell triggering a memory was an alien concept until I got older and my s...

Re: Euro Space Center - Belgium Trailer and Report
I believe you are likely the only person on this forum who has attended both the European version of Space Camp as well as the one in Huntsville. Thank you for the report, and the excellent photos. This is the best coverage I have ever seen of the Belgian Center.

Re: Team Patches Frame
A few counsellors I know have kept every mission patch they were given I sent the two to the trainers I really liked and appreciated and I know each still have them. That being said, I think very few teams actually go on to make a team patch, and those are mostly adults, not kids. yeah, I was think...

Re: Team Patches Frame
Plenty of patches have bene made over the years and in some cases, plenty of them.
the question is; would SC want them there?
I wouldn't mind donating a couple of my favorites, but only if they wouldn't go into the trash can right away or soon after they got them...

Anomalies on Adult camp missions, realistic or silly?
A recent discussion on anomalies on missions at SC on another thread prompted me to post this here. What do you think of how the missions are done in this regard? I have had 'space ghosts' that I fully feel thought of us as being there for their own personal amusement. I had a 12-hour LDM at the wee...

Re: Patch Pioneer / May 2017 ASA
Frankly, the adult program anomalies I experienced last year were down right silly. I got the feeling we were there to entertain the trainers.
It got tiring really fast on the LDM that year.
In the miliyary, I never trained people like that. If it couldn't happen in real life, its not training.

Re: Callsigns??
It's done on an informal basis, at least among the adult camps. I know of a few people who've been plenty of times and never got one. I got one on the final day of my 4th camp, last year. Someone's gotta think of something that suits something that happened to you. In my case, my knucklehead pilot h...
