Re: Fry's Electronics Space Shuttle

it would be interesting to know where the assets from Space Camp California and Space Camp Florida ended up... It would, indeed. I don't know for sure what all they had at either camp but you must wonder whatever happened to it all. I know that Space Camp Florida kept some things at the building no...

I just found this group photo, and I have enlarged some of the nameplates on the flight suits and jackets on the shuttle transporter 747 crew photo. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v214/willysmb44/NASA%20Jackets/747CREWnametags.jpg Note how several of them are wearing gold wings with the NASA insi...

Here are the various wings I have, minus a third pair of Advanced Space Academy wings identical to the other two. I am not sure why there are different coloured Space Camp wings or which levels the Aviation Challenge wings represent. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5115/7068422147_926c56114c.jpg Nice...

Sounds like I have most of the available wings that are given out today. The funny thing is two of these were in pockets of SC flight suits I’ve bought at aviation collectible shows. The third I paid just a few bucks for, just for the heck of it: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v214/willysmb44/Spa...

http://i40.tinypic.com/34ralci.jpg Here's the flight suits as I remember them from the late 80s. Note the small "Space Gear" tag above the zipper on the left breast. I know at some point the “Space Gear” logo got added before the era of the light blue suits was done. I have seen the jacke...

And finally, forgive my self-indulgence as I really throw a monkey wrench into things by showing my own camp flightsuit. I collect flight gear and military uniforms as my primary hobby and also consult writers, TV and movie productions on similar subjects from time to time. So, when I go to camp in ...

The typeface changed on the chest Camp patches, as well as from "US Space Camp" to dropping the "US". This might have coincided with the starting of the ill-fated camps in other nations? This label is on another suit otherwise identical to the one in the previous post: http://img...

Next, we get into the era of the royal blue suits, which occured for NASA some time around the 'return to flight' era after the Challenger incident. I have seen photos of these suits with the standard triangle shaped shuttle program patch, but in 2007 they went to a 25th anniversary patch which is s...

Next, a adult suit from roughly the same era as above: *The overall color is the same as the previous suit, but the velcro is much lighter *Full pockets are now on both legs, including a survival knife pocket on the left shin (with a very light button, real Nomex suits have a large and sturdy black ...

Space Camp flight suit differences and details...

For about 6 months I seemed to stumble across SC flight suits everywhere I went, at military and aviation collectible shows, antique stores, what have you. It's odd because I live in the Pacific NW, nowhere near where a camp every existed. So anyway, while looking the various suits I have over, I n...

I have done a few projects for Kiowa Warrior, Chinook, and Blackhawk. Never had the chance to fly in one IRL, but I have flown each in simulation. I've pancaked onto a conrete runway in a Uh-1 once and a year later survived a very nasty Chinook crash with multiple fatalities (including the soldier ...

For some odd reason, I ran into several camp fightsuits over the past few months and have bought several as they were so cheap.
I have noticed a lot of difference in the details of the ones I have, would it be worth my time here to get photos of the differences?

I wish I knew someone at Camp to propose this to who could make it happen, but I don’t. Does anyone know someone at Marketing there to pitch the idea to? Here’s what someone on the collect space forum did to make it ‘normal’ looking: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q217/wideopenthrottle36/spaceca...

Didn't even think abouyt looking into airline discounts, but I'm only flying one-way, going to rent a car and do an epic cross-country sightseeing trip on the way back to the Pacific Northwest, my wife is coming down the day after I'm done with camp. I'm going to throw this out here. Remember, rules exist because at some point someone has broken it! :? Not only do the security guards not let you back on campus if you are intoxicated, they will also not let you back on carrying alcohol. Yes, we had problems with this in the very near past. 8O I’...

Section for SC collectibles?

I got to wondering why this forum doesn’t have a section on collecting Space Camp items, especially from the past? I’ve stumbled across a few items from the strangest places recently (including more than a couple of flight suits) and started wondering about when certain things changed or got added-d...

I swear I've read somewhere that the hotel nearby does have a camp discount, but I'll be darned if I can recall where I saw that. I'd say just call and check with the Marriott, which is right next to the camp grounds.

When are you going to camp?

I collect military uniforms as my primary hobby and being former military as well as volunteering to crew WW2 airplanes in the past, I have a LOT of nameplates, and could easily wear a different one each day I'm at camp. As a purely money-making thing, you have to wnder why they offer this wing, as ...
