Re: Win A Trip to Space Camp for Your Family

I got an email last night that I won one of the runner up prizes which, I think, is an adult flight suit, a kids flight suit and a gift card for a kids shoe store. I'm not exactly sure what I'll do with the kids flight suit or kids shoe store gift card, but I am excited about winning a flight suit f...

Re: Space Camp flight suit differences and details...

I can tell you that once upon a time the different colors were used to denote the three tracks for Space Academy Level two. Aerospace (pilot) Engineering (mission Specialist) and i think the third was Technology (Payload Specialist) I believe Green was Aerospace Orange Engineering and light blue wa...

Re: Space warriors review and whatthe hecks?

When I went to camp in late 89's/early 90's, there were plenty of awards given out. Right Stuff Best Mission (I think...could be wrong about this one) Best Mission Patch Best Space Station Space Bowl The Mission Specialists competed in a different design competition. One year it was balsa wood bridg...

Re: Daily Schedule

It's been a while since I've been to camp, so others might be able to give more specifics. But, in general, yes you'll have time to get ready in the morning, including time for a shower if you prefer to shower in the morning. If you want to wake up earlier, that shouldn't be a problem...just don't d...

I'm possibly interested (need to see the image and get estimated cost information before I commit). But definitely keep me in the loop if you decide to do something like this.

Re: Everything you know from Space Camp movies is wrong...

Teams are usually put together based on the preferences of the people coming or to put people who are coming as a group together. And, at least it used to be the case, teams are put together based on when you sign-up and pay your money. If you do it as early as possible, you're most likely to be pu...

Re: Do Adult program patch designs get left off the website?

I know they used to put the adult team patches up on the site. http://www.spacecamp.com/gallery/displa ... fullsize=1 is the one my team at adult ASA made back in 2007.

Re: Migrant worker Space Camp?

This could also be a camp specifically for educators or migrant workers' kids. Seems like that might be a more practical group of people to get together educators generally tending to be less, well, migratory. Just a thought. It would be interesting to research (or read the research of) all the vari...

Re: Are specific weeks given team names normally each year?

For those interested in a historical perspective, when I went to camp as a kid (late 80's, early 90's) the naming conventions were as follows: Camp (elementary school) - Planets Level I (middle school) - Corporate sponsors - Rockwell, Teledyne Brown, Lockheed, etc. I was on Rockwell Level II (high s...

Re: Things you'd like to see for sale at gift shop or online

I kinda like the exclusivness of the challenge coins and would hate for them to be available in the gift shop for the masses to purchase. They are sort of like our "inside" thing that you can only get by coming to the events. I'd rather not see them as an "everybody" item in the...

But please do keep me in the loop for this.

Re: Adult Week 2013?

Sadly, with so few people, we do not have enough to make a team. :( I feel like a selfish traitor: I have accepted an invitation to join the other alumni team for 2013. (It wasn't an easy decision.) However, if more people jump on here and commit for 2013, and can pick a date, I would put in the ef...

Re: Adult Week 2013?

If the camp is $1500 per person for 6 days (plus travel), would you commit to attending? I am only trying to be realistic here before any more work goes into this. Like Hotdog, I'd like to know what the curriculum is before committing. I also would need to get a better idea of the date. And I need ...

Re: Changing names on the shuttle simulators?

Enterprise i'm not really sure about. I have seen a camp brochure from 88 that shows it with no name at all on the side. I have vague memories of the current Enterprise being "named" with a three digit number. I want to say 147 but I don't think that's right. I'll have to see if I can dig...

Re: Shuttle stack pins, are they really an award?

I don't remember pins ever being awards when I've been to camp. When I went for adult ASA there were t-shirts for the team that won Space Bowl and the team that did the best at Area 51. There was also a medal given to the Right Stuff winner. We were the only adult team there that week (and the coupl...

Huh? Can counselors not correspond with trainees? Back in the day we could write letters, is that not the same as an email nowadays? Yes it's the same thing but due to various "child protection policies" (or whatever the specific name for the policy is) that sort of thing tends to be frow...

Re: Adult Week 2013?

It sounds like the general consensus is that ~$2000 is too expensive for most people here, but that ~$1200 is doable. If that is the case, it sounds like we have two (non-mutually exclusive) options. The first is to contact Space Camp to see about reducing the cost of the program, possibly with an a...
