I got the Advanced Academy patch years ago and did just that. Also the regular Space Academy Patch. I think that was the first one that I swapped out on my flight suit for the Space Camp patch. Duct tape is also useful on your shuttle mission to keep things from floating away in the simulated microgravity environment inside the orbiter. If you just set your tools down, a "helpful" ghost could make them float away. But if you duct tape them to the wall, they will stay.

I would definitely go for the flight suits. They add to the feeling of being a real astronaut. They are not too hot for indoors. I usually wear mine for the missions, but not for all of the training. As I recall, a couple of times the Marshall tour was an optional after-graduation event. That way, it did not impact the schedule at all.

Sorry, I can't make it too. My nephew is getting married on June 15. (He should have known better, he was at Parent/Child with me in 1998 when we won the Outstanding Astronaut Trainee medal )

The pins were often given out to Parent/Child Camp teams. I got several on different trips there. Usually for things like Best Parent/Child Cooperation or Best Space Station.
