Those were maybe the pix I saw, if you were in Space Camp in 89. They are little kids definitely. They could really expand that idea with much more realistic sims. It was hard to see exactly what they were doing. It's a little hard to say how realistic something is when you are a little kid. I remem...

I think you'all have talked me into the idea that I didn't attend Space Academy as long ago as I originally thought. Pathfinder was finished (although I did see the incomplete one when going to the museum a few years earlier). Also Hab 2 must have been finished. The pix of Hab 2 that I see from thei...

Well maybe the first few years they will still do the shuttle, but I would guess they would phase it out. There are quite a no. of cool things they could do. They do/did have a space station module. They could also do lunar and/or Mars exploration with rovers and sample return and so on. I remember ...

I have that old promotional video, which still believe this or not, works. I didn't realize it was where the cafeteria is now, but it makes sense. Yes, I recall the Lunch Pad. Also the dorky colored visors the kiddies wore (though I when I was there there was mostly Advanced Academy).(The kids in my...

Another funny thing happened. I am trying to get a deal on caps from the space camp store for my "space explorer" camp. Anyway, someone gave me a women's name, Jimmie, who is very nice. Anyway, I started telling her about my family members in Huntsville. I always say one thing about the so...

Hotdog, is that your temperature control system in a few of those photos?

BTW, I recall the space station prototype. In fact, we had a tour and I very nearly got left behind. :-) (I might have some photos too. Of course, nothing is digital).

SpaceCanada, maybe you are speaking of artistry not creativity. Judging from your emails of your summer program, you seem pretty darned creative to me.

Yes, I have to hem up the "small". The arms and legs are too long. The small is more like a medium, but I'd guess the youth sizes would run too narrow. I haven't seen the zippered arms and legs, but they aren't too wierd an idea for what you are describing. The pockets, now that is what is...

Hey, I'm in Albuquerque. If you are going to be in Kirkland, that's in ABQ. Welcome. (Of course, I should tell you that after a beautiful spring you will be in our lovely summer). But welcome anyway. --des I'd be glad to dig out the pics....but it will be a few months. They're in my folks' house in ...

Haha! Well it is having to take the whole thing all the way off practically. I noticed that the astronauts today go around in the most ugly colors. Honestly, I think someone should work on this. :-) I see them in wierd green or blue shirts and so on. I do recall the pants (or shorts) and polo shirts...

What do you mean it isn't a pain for us!! We have to take the thing off to use the bathroom! I think a two piece would be nice. I think I would buy a very light jacket instead of a flight suit. But I don't knwo what the carry these days. I still have my jacket but it is lined and has cuffs to keep t...

Welll of course a shuttle tile would be free (provided you sign your life away on it that you are doing actual research). I'm not sure how much you'd pay for a Buran tile. If you want to do the gelatin/Nerds simulation here is the website about Stardust. http://stardust.jpl.nasa.gov/home/index.html ...

I also have a teeny shuttle tile segment. It is just a piece and not big enough for anything. I was quite disappointed. (I bought several other things and was disappointed in these as well.) Yes, agar/gelatin taste good mixed with juice as it is natural jello, but the consistency of this really matt...

I do, and it is reasonably good condition.

The director just admitted it wasn't that odd. He expected it to fill faster, but then again the kids have to commit to a longer session. New Mexicans are about the worst procrastinators on earth anyway. Our spring break happens in another week, so I htink that that is a good reason, summer doesn't ...

Oh Aerogel!! This friend of mine went to a JPL education workshop and got to hold it. She was definitely thrilled, and has all sorts of pix of it. It is very expenisve, and rather easily to hurt. I think a tiny little square of it is $35. It was used, among other times, maybe, to capture trajectorie...

Actually I had already thought of doign this. This general area is called "material science" and NASA does a LOT of work, specifically with polymers. Astronanuts also wear diapers, I hadn't thought of this as an angle. I bet I'd have their interest. :-) There's also various goos and gels t...
