I'm going for the 3rd time in Sept. (8-13) Adult ASA. I'm determined to be more prepared this time....Taking a sleeping bag. All of us had ordered the uniform package so at least we had sweat pants and sweat shirt to sleep in last year! I wonder though, do you wear bike shorts under your flight suit...

Best flight sim to practice for AC?

What would be the best flight sim program to practice for AC? I have MS Flight Sim 2000. I thought about getting their Combat Flight Sim 2, but it's WWII, not modern planes. Adult ASA does a "mini-AC" thing, which includes 2 hours in the Mach I (I think) sims. The instructor told me I had ...

Saving Space Camp...What can we do?

I know that financially things sound like they're looking up for SC, but I know they're not out of the woods yet. We all know they had many neat plans for expansion at one time (Trek camp, monorail, ect.) I was wondering how we might be able to help out. I realize that most people who attend SC are ...

That's interesting, Jason....I'd heard about most of those ideas. I wonder how much money they need to get back in the black. I'd heard about a committee called "Save Space Camp" but I don't know any info on it. Let's see....if we each go back this summer..that's roughly $1,000 per person ...

Space Camp on Sept. 11

OK. Gang. Here's the article I wrote about my Sept. 11 experiences at space camp, it ran with several photos of both my team and myself. I'll try to get the whole thing onto the web one of these days. Oh, the headline wasn't my idea. :) Flying High in the Face of Terror. By Kim Sisk Copy Editor I su...

Star Trek Camp...What would it be like?

OK. We've heard that Space Camp had plans to start up a Star Trek camp, but because of financial problems, that's on the back burner. But think for a minute of what such a camp would be like. What kind of levels would there be? Career tracks? How would missions be handled? How would they work with t...

Adult Weekend Program?

Has anyone here done the AC adult weekend program or know of someone who has? I'm thinking of trying it, but I wondered how much you can do in just a weekend. When I did Adult ASA, we did water survival (zipline and heilo dunker) and two hours in the flight sims and centrifuge. They said we were the...

New Here!

Hi! I'm new to the boards, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I went to SA Level I June 16-21, 1991, and Adult ASA Sept. 9-14, 2001. Yes, that's 10 years between trips! I remember asking Joel (I think that was his name) at orientation "What changes have happened here in the last 10 years?"...

Adults get cool stuff

I did the Adult Advanced ASA Sept. 9-14. We got leather briefcases with the ASA patch on them. Inside were the Throttle Up book, a pen, lanyard for your badge, map of Huntsville and various other papers. The briefcases were very nice, but heavy to carry around even with the shoulder strap. Most of u...
