Re: Space Camp Robotics

Can you describe some of what you all did in the robotics lab? What were the task and goals and how did all of that tie into the missions? When I was there for adult ASA in October, I saw the room and some of the equipment but we didn't do anything with it. I was a bit surprised to see that most of ...

Re: Hab Windows

Trust me, those rooms are updated. That's very sad to hear because those rooms are much the same as they were when I first went to camp in 1991. I agree. I just got back from the adult ASA and my room - 306 - was almost unchanged from when I last went. Only changes from when I went as a kid was tha...

Re: ASA it AC Mach 3?

I have been to both space academy and aviation challenge Mach 2 and absolutely loved them both! I am currently saving up to go again to either advanced space academy or aviation challenge Mach 3, but I can't decide which one. What are they both like? What do you get to do? Do you really get to go s...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!

In the mean time, I'm trying to decide exactly what to bring. I am going back and forth on hauling my camera gear (Canon 6D) and tripod to do some shots at night and haul the big camera around on a day or two to get good photos. My flights are both on small planes (CR9) so I don't want to try to ha...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!

Some more details about the week were posted on fb today. There will be MS and PLT tracks for each time, mostly for scheduling reasons. I AM SO EXCITED!!! I saw that. I am curious as to how those will be assigned and if trading places (intra and/or inter team) will be allowed. I'm kinda wondering t...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!

Also, complete your transportation form! Adults are particularly negligent about that. If you don't request (and pay for) ground transportation from the airport, there won't be anyone there to pick you up! I admit that I've been negligent on my transportation form. I just went to fill it out and th...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!

There's speculation that we may have another government shutdown come 10/1. If I remember correctly, the last one shutdown Marshall tours. I would expect that Marshall would be closed in the event of a government shutdown. Hopefully it either won't come to that or a budget can be passed before we l...

Re: Adult Space Academy 49 - AWESOME!!!

Interestingly, towels used to be provided at camp. They were cheap, thin and white. Similar to what you'd find at a cheap roadside motel. You got a bath towel one or two hand towels and a wash cloth when you checked in. This was in the late 80's/early 90's. Not sure when or why they stopped issuing ...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!

I'm excited to be part of one of the "Train with an Astronaut" teams.
Last week I changed my work computer wallpaper to a picture of camp taken from the Mariott. I can't wait to get back.

Re: Towels?

What I've always done was to bring a towel I didn't mind not coming back with (most people have one that isn't brand new) and just threw it away when I've taken my last shower at SC on graduation day. Nobody wants that "wet towel funk" in your suitcase when you come home and you won't hav...

Prep for Adult ASA

Now that my life has calmed down a bit, I'm starting to take some more time to prep for Adult ASA this October. Obviously no preparation is really required, but I figure I'm not the only one excited about camp and looking for ways to help make the time seem to go by a little quicker. So, what's ever...

Brooke I haven't done AC so I can't speak to a lot of the program specifics, but I know you'll have a blast. In early July, in Alabama, it will be hot. And humid. It will probably rain in the afternoons. You'll want shorts and t-shirts most of the time. But everything inside will be air conditioned,...

Re: Weeklong Adult Space Camp

I haven't seen anyone speak up about signing up for option 1 (without an astronaut) besides me, but I heard that group is doing well too. Wonder who it is signing up... I don't know who's signing up for Option 1, but it sounds like we will have at least three adult teams at Camp that week, possibly...

Try this one: Page has expired. Well, bummer.. If you go through the registration process, selecting Adult for age, Advanced Space Academy for program, October for date it will take you to the same page. It doesn't say anything about training with Hoot Gibson, that information comes from the (close...

Re: Weeklong Adult Space Camp

Where's a link for this astronaut for a trainer option? I was telling one of my coworkers about it and he wanted to see a link for it (mainly because I'm pretty sure he doesn't believe it's real). Try this one: https://thriva.activenetwork.com/Reg4/(S(couwsm45bajyww45q1psmrny))/Form.aspx?regkey=RpY...

Re: Weeklong Adult Space Camp

But, on the Facebook group it was said that they will reset the With an Astronaut option and try to fill a second team. Not certain who that astronaut will be at this point. My guess is that no one thought that the option would fill up that quickly...half the people on Facebook were registered befo...
