I think the planes will add to the story of the shuttle but I do agree they should be on the edge of the ring of the shuttle park agree. Many people don’t seem to understand how close NASA and the astronaut corps has been to the T-38 for a very long time now. Growing up in Tallahassee, Florida, I s...

Interesting camp wing nameplate spotted....

I recently noticed this photo on the collect space site by accident: http://www.collectspace.com/review/ffrench/spacecamphof01.jpg Clearly, that's a hall of fame awardee jacket, but why isn't that nameplate offered as an option for campers? I love the design and would love to have one just like it (...

Timing can be crazy sometimes. I’d almost forgotten that when the news came out that Space Camp had first opened, I was in junior high and I asked my Mom to put some NASA patches onto a shirt I had to make it ‘sort of’ look like the suits I saw campers wearing on the news. I had a NASA ‘meatball’ an...

Do they even give out wings anymore? I found a set at an antique show recently, it had a red shield in the center with “US Space Camp” written on it. I assume these are the wings people are talking about, but do they still give them out and if so, do they still have this design?

Re: Nice place you guys have here.

I heard about this place from a collectSPACE forum post on Space Camp obviously. I honestly had no idea this place existed. I'm the one who posted that over there. I too recently found out this was here in anticipation of my first visit ever (wanted to go badly when I was a teen but it wasn't going...

Phil Reeder from the UK wrote me not long ago, looking for adults to commit to a 8-day camp either this year or 2013. I’ll send him the link to this thread as he might not know about it. I don’t think I can commit to something that long of with that kind of cost, but maybe that’ll change after I go ...

Tornadoes in the area of Huntsville?

On the radio this morning, they talked about a line of weather that stretched from Northern Alabama to Virginia. Looks like it rolled through Huntsville and more storms are predicted to threaten there and into Chattanooga. Let’s hope that the Space Center will be spared (not to mention relatives of ...

I know this is an OLD thread but it’s happening to me so often I can’t search the site or look through any threads that are long than one page. I can look at maybe one thread and that’s it for a very long time. The irony is I got one while replying, had to go back in half an hour later to just post ...

Unless you get assigned to a room with a really loud snorer! I brought up snoring initially because it’s more of an issue with adults than kids (or used to be, maybe not anymore?) and when I was in the Army and we were out in the field, any enemy could just track us at night by the sound of the sno...

What’s up with all the duct tape references in this forum? In the Army, we never went anywhere without a OD green or camouflage version called, “Hundred Mile an Hour” tape, but for the life of me I can’t think of any practical use for it at Space Camp. I understand that taping people to chairs is a ...

They either do a great job of hiding it, assume you have no questions, or I’m over thinking everything (either of which is likely, I guess). If you go to www.spacecamp.com and go to 'resources', you'll see an option for Trainee Guides. I'm not sure what questions you have, but probably most of them...

Thanks for the info. I’m signed up for the Adult camp in September, which should make for interesting times (much more potential for snoring and people less adaptable to a communal lifestyle than kids are, I bet). But I’m sure that much like my Army days, the hab will be a place to ‘rack out’ and st...

Thanks for the reply! I just hope someone who’s gone through the program since it went to a 3-day one will respond with the other topics. 1. They do house adult participants in Hab 1 this is the larger of the two buildings and as i recall has about 6 or 7 people in bunks in a room. Adults do have th...

Anyone dealing with antique/current military aircraft?

Just curious if anyone here has worked with or flown on current or older military aircraft due to the people at AC... I walked away from two very nasty incidents with military helicopters, so you won’t likely get into anything with rotors on it again. I don’t know where my photos are of the helicopt...

Adult at 3-day camp, Fall of 2012, what should I expect?

I just signed up for a September slot last night and am going to the 3-day adult program. I've never been to space camp before (it's only been 30 years since I first dreamt of going). The website has very few details on the adult program. Therefore, I have some questions that I couldn't find elsewhe...
