Re: Last mission for Atlantis

I know a certain someone on my adult team back in 2004 that would probably go all google eyed at the prospect of owning an old shuttle sim. Then again, he has probably crafted himself an exact replica by now... Someone will have to get an update from him next time he's at camp. PK - you know Sims, r...

Re: SpaceCamp (Finally) Coming to Blu-Ray!

Thanks for the review on the home page. The frame comparisons are very revealing; the blu-ray is higher quality than I expected it to be. It's also nice to see that the second version is oddly colour saturated for everyone else too. [s]I'll add a copy to my (American) Amazon order in October.[/s] (M...

How did you get an email for it?

Wish I could go... three vacations in one year tapped out our travel budget.

Movie: Mission Control

Anyone here watched it yet? It is on Netflix and Apple iTunes, and probably some other video hosting/streaming sites as well. I am about half-way through and enjoying it immensely. I love seeing the faces of various engineers and MCC personnel and hearing their stories. I cannot wait to finish watch...

Re: AC Mach III First Timer

The camp packing list (I found it today) says that AC participants will be issued a BDU jacket to wear for the duration of camp. They also list two pairs of long pants or trousers (they recommend khakis). Now, I'm not sure I agree with the khakis statement since those are typically considered fairly...

Re: Looking for old teammates

Cool! Thanks for sharing. My two youth camps and one adult camp came up. Corporate/private group camps didn't.

Re: AC Mach III First Timer

Welcome to Hab1! One of the greatest lessons in life is: come as you are and be yourself; and be proud of it - and that applies to Space Camp and AC too! I haven't been to AC, not as a kid in a full programme anyway. (Now I wish I did, as they have since done away with adult AC camps, and I have sin...

Big USSRC Announcement

Anyone else tune in for the big announcement yesterday? I had to take an urgent phone call in the middle of it, so I didn't catch all of the details. Something was mentioned about a building that will connect the old museum building (with the TCF/MCC, UAT, etc.) with the Davidson Center. I would lov...

90% totality selfie! It was noticeably darker and cooler outside. The sky looked like you were wearing dark sunglasses. The pinhole camera worked just as ti should and was super fun to use. https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/20992913_10155354895061418_3049767067658217540_n.jpg?oh=b61016f8...

Re: 2018

If you did the week-long camp as a kid I think you could be disappointed with the abbreviated weekend Adult SA camp, as it won't include everything you may expect, since it's less than half the length. If you can make it work, I'd definitely recommend the week-long Adult ASA camp.

Thanks, Feuerfresser! I look forward to reading all about it. Your two-day experience sounds interesting and makes me wonder why they gave up the Space Camp name if they continue to offer mini camps like this. (Much like KSC's ATX.)

Solar Eclipse

Who plans on watching it - or part of it? We're in the ~90% zone, and whilst I am scheduled to be in the office that day, I plan on getting outside to see it - with my ever-so-simple pinhole camera. That's a double dose of science! Get the pinhole camera instructions here: https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/e...

Re: Space Camp 35th Anniversary Retrospective Video - What Would You Like to See?

Space Camp has posted some nice, though brief, retrospectives on social media today. I am still waiting to see old photos of the campus as it has changed throughout the years. The Coca Cola clock that had time and temperature (in F and C!), the old entrance, old gift shop, old rainbow corridor, the ...

Re: Space Camp 35th Anniversary Retrospective Video - What Would You Like to See?

I love the idea. I saw that scholarship recipient video post they made and thought of doing one in front of the FFT but I am SEVERELY lacking in video skills. I would submit something if someone else could edit it... :? (I received a scholarship as a youth.) As for what I would want to see, hypothet...

The Museum of Flight

If you haven't been to the Museum of Flight in Seattle, you need to go there. They have daily tours of their Space Shuttle Trainer crew compartment. It's really quite amazing. We spent a full day at the museum - they have an Apollo exhibit and many planes too, including a Concorde and Boeing 787 you...

The shop isn't working for me either, and hasn't for quite some time. You can always call the shop directly and place an order.
