Re: First Timer at Adult Space Academy in September

You are going to have a blast!! I went for the first time in January and got so addicted that I'll be back for the 6 day camp in October. It is seriously the most amazing thing I've ever done in my life and I hope you have as good of a time as I did. If you have any questions or anything, please ask!

Re: Prep for Adult ASA

I am so glad I am not the only one already thinking about and planning for ASA. I'm trying not to let myself get too excited about it just yet, but I have decided what bags I'm taking and made a mental packing list for clothes at least. I've been having slight regrets about not signing up for the &q...

Re: Family Camp Review

How awesome! My first nephew isn't even born yet (due 6/26 lol) and I'm already daydreaming of when he's old enough to go to family camp. I already told my sister I'm taking him. It looks like it was a blast!

Re: Alumni Weekend 2015

Right? There are probably around 60 people going in October so you'd think that would be a better time for alumni weekend. Also just have to say I'm sooo glad the 6 day is in October, because HSV in July...yuck.

Re: Weeklong Adult Space Camp

Man I am stoked for this, especially since I was able to still use my $100 off black friday deal :D I haven't seen anyone speak up about signing up for option 1 (without an astronaut) besides me, but I heard that group is doing well too. Wonder who it is signing up...

Re: You know you're addicted to Space Camp-

Sorry about being #15....I was working on my blog, got strep throat that wouldn't go away for almost a month and just haven't got back to it yet!

Re: Weeklong Adult Space Camp

I seem to be the only one who signed up for the "without" option. I just can't justify the extra $300. Hopefully option 1 will be able to form a team. I'm STOKED!

Re: Pamper pole area 51

The 3 day adult camps don't do any of the high ropes stuff, just a couple of the low ropes activities. You only spend an hour and a half there.

Re: Weeklong Adult Space Camp

I am SO in for this. As cool as the "train with an astronaut" option would be, I'm already way exceeding my budget for just the 6 day so I'm not sure I could swing the extra few hundred bucks. Now I just need to wait for the registration to be available so I can call and have them transfer...

Re: Total noob...where have I been?!

I started working on it! I'm writing in some ridiculous amounts of detail so I'll post each day's blog as I get it done. So far I'm at almost 2000 words and I'm only at 4pm of day 1 schedule. It should start moving faster as I just move along my schedule writing about each thing. :D I should probabl...

Re: Total noob...where have I been?!

I didn't take any wider angle shots of the building unfortunately. Where the 1/6 chair is, there used to be two chairs and moon surfaces but now there's only one. The Endeavor and (I think) ISS module take up quite a bit of that part of the building. So you walk in that left side door and there's th...

Re: Total noob...where have I been?!

So I haven't been ambitious enough to write up my blogs yet, but I did upload a pile of photos. http://www.flickr.com/serietah to see them all We used Enterprise for all three missions. I'm thinking that due to feedback from previous groups, they decided not to have us do any Orion missions. If I re...

Re: Total noob...where have I been?!

Yes, full blog with photos and video will be up as soon as I can! Today has been a lazy, back to earth day so I haven't even pulled the SD card out of my camera yet. My team only had 10 people and we all meshed so perfectly. Some people wanted to repeat positions for charlie and no one wanted the CD...

Re: Total noob...where have I been?!

Day 2 is done. Most of the team is in the..library..studying. ahem. I don't study those kinds of books so I'm back in the hab still basking in how awesome today was. I not only got to be pilot for bravo, but I got to be commander in charlie (2 hour). I'll write more about it when I get home. Such an...

Re: Total noob...where have I been?!

My first day is done and holy cow...this was worth the wait. And every penny. There are only ten of us (go team Challenger!) and only 4 females in the room in Hab 2 since 2 others are staying at the marriot. We are bonding nicely and our trainer is fantastic. I love this place.

Re: Total noob...where have I been?!

Thanks guys! I am over the initial panic (ahhhhh change!) And back to 100% excited. Im currently camped on the couch at my dads house. He'll be taking me to the airport in the morning for my too long journey to huntsville. I've got an extra carryon size suitcase stowed empty inside my large suitcase...

Re: Total noob...where have I been?!

Well that's a little disappointing. I just got an email that due to renovations in Hab 1, we'll be in Hab 2 and 3 this weekend. I'm sure it will be just fine, but my initial reaction is disappointment because there's a big difference in having a small room for a few people vs a large room with who k...

Re: Total noob...where have I been?!

Jen, don't forget to pick up your frame when you stop by Trainee Services. If no one is in the office it is on top of the tall black cupboard by the ladder with your screen name on. Just leave the money on Kathy's desk. Sounds good! I'll stop by there first on Friday morning. I am so excited I can'...

Re: Total noob...where have I been?!

Sounds good! I love cold weather, but I'd prefer 30s-40s over teens and 20s like we're having now. It's way easier to just throw on a hoodie than a hoodie, jacket, scarf, hat, etc lol. I've just rewatched the entire From Earth to the Moon series and a 4 part series on Netflix and have been reading F...
