Re: "First Man" movie, who's going to see it the opening weekend?

Quoting the USSRC Facebook feed: Seeing First Man in the theater this weekend? Listen closely. The sounds of switches and clicks in the Apollo Command Module were recorded on-location at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Below is a photo of Neil Armstorng, Buzz Aldrin, and M...

Re: IMAX :-(

Oh, some of my fondest camp memories and silly inside jokes happened in that theatre. OREOs and IMAX will make me giggle for years to come. As it will be sad to see IMAX depart (bye bye Canadian technology), I think a planetarium will be a great addition, as I always wondered why there wasn't one in...

Re: "First Man" movie, who's going to see it the opening weekend?

I am excited to see it, but will wait for Blu-ray. The previews make it look pretty intense and I am prone to sensory overload, so watching it in cinema might be too much.

Re: Adult Camp Accomodations

Are the Hab room doors steel or something else? The older style doors in Hab1 are plastic. The one on our room last year was wood. I'm not sure what material the newest set of doors are made of, since they renovated the doors after we were there last. Might be a good question for Vincent, Benji, St...

Re: 2018

How's the camp planning coming along, Lee (P51)? Are you registered yet? I still only see the 3-day camp dates, no week-long programmes are listed on the main adult page, but there's a week-long programme on 04 November for US$1349 that is open. Too bad there's no way to know about it unless you kno...

Re: 2018

LEGO Mindstorms robotics are used in the robot price lab. The challenge tables are designed for rover missions. The only issue with robotics is that they take several hours for building and programming them. I don't see how they could include it in a weekend camp, but it would be a nice addition to ...

Re: Space Camp Japan

My (much younger) cousin was supposed to go to Space World (Space Camp Japan) yesterday but she became ill and they had to cancel. They hope to go tomorrow. I will share any photos she sends me, if I am allowed to do so. I might be more excited than she is... EDIT: Turns out that Space World closed ...

Re: Adult Camp Accomodations

I say put an adult dorm where the Saturn V was. ;) von Braun's Happy Bottom Riding Club LOL Best suggestion, ever! Too bad their recent funding went to the robotics and new security/coding camps. Even portable (trailer) dorms would be nice - and more economical. The walk is closer to 15 minutes, yo...

Re: Adult Camp Accomodations

majtom7 - You were away for our team debrief session last year. I'm not sure how much I can or should make public, but there were comments made about the Hab being overly crowded (both Hab1 and 2 were FULL), and adults wanting more space and privacy. Corporate and adult camps may be housed in the Ma...

Re: SpaceCamp Anniversary

What, no 'The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley: The Case of the U.S Space Camp Mission'?? We used to have it on VHS, but then we did away with all those VHS movies when we moved. Sad, sad day that was. The songs were super catchy. It's not available on DVD, and I haven't seen a digital copy floa...

Re: SpaceCamp Anniversary

I was one of the few that hadn't heard of the SpaceCamp movie until I went to camp, actually. I heard about US Space Camp from a local science centre advertising Space Camp Spatiale Canada -- but I was too old to attend there and they directed me to Huntsville. I worked hard to save money over two y...

SpaceCamp Anniversary

Yesterday was the 32nd anniversary of SpaceCamp's debut in cinema. How did you celebrate the occasion? I watched the movie whilst riding my bike (affixed to a stationary trainer). I recently gifted a copy of SpaceCamp and Space Warriors to a young girl (age 10) I know who loves space and she much pr...

I checked a few times and never saw the rest of Sims' blog posts. If someone here has them, could they please add links? I will try to email Sims when I get home.

Also, Benji... where's your camp report??? How was family camp?
