Michael Griffin, the new NASA administrator, has said he'd like to reevaluate the Hubble situation after RTF, so it'll be interesting to see how that develops.

Yay psych0rabbit! I gave a total of 8 times (successfully) in college. I passed out (after finishing) the first time, and figured out I needed to drink a LOT of water beforehand. After college, it wasn't as easy to schedule, so I stopped...then became diabetic, and didn't think I could...turns out I...

Wow, sounds like quite a few of us had a crummy weekend...well, time moves us forward if nothing else. Allison, you have my sympathies on the decision...I hate making decisions, especially tough ones. I hope it all works out. My week has been better than my weekend...I agreed to start volunteering a...

Okay, you're all invited to my pity party...I was hoping to meet astronaut candidate George Zamka at a maple festival today. It was about an hour from here, and there was nothing on their website this morning about it being cancelled, but when I got there, it was a no-go because the whole little tow...

The only reason I didn't believe this is because I was totally taken in for a few moments by Vincent's announcement on the front page before realizing it was an April Fool's joke!!! I guess I got complacent after no one played any jokes on me today...

I have two cats, Aspen, a black shorthair with white markings who I got from a shelter, and Hickory, a black longhair who was a stray. Hickory is blind in her left eye, but seems to get along well seeing in only one. I've had other cats growing up, had hamsters while in college, and when I was littl...

I'm a huge fan of Queen, like most of what would be termed "classic rock", and a lot of 80's music.

We got to use the centrifuge as part of Adult Space Academy...sounds like we were pretty lucky, it being only a 3-day program. While we were over at AC, we also used the flight simulators a bit (the ones in the smaller room in the right corner of the building as you go in the door). Mine wasn't work...

I was going to try to go down for the Shuttle launch, but with the changeable date making it hard to get time off work, and with plans to go to an astronaut autograph show making it tough to afford both, I decided not to try and go. Even though I'm looking forward to the show, whenever I hear about ...

Well, this is an obvious one, but I put it in my scrapbook next to a postcard of the training floor: The lights above the training floor lighten and darken every 45 minutes to simulate how often you would cross from day into night onboard the Shuttle.

Nope, our course and test at the end of it was in a pool. It was a long time ago (late 1980's), so I imagine a lot has changed. I can't remember details about if or how long a time we had to swim. Another interesting activity I remember doing involved rescuing another person using their hair! While ...

I went to Manlius Pebble Hill (private school) in DeWitt, which is a suburb of Syracuse. It was a pretty small school when I was there (graduated in 1991, that dates me)! I hear it's expanded quite a bit, so they may well have astronomy now.

I went to University of Rochester for college.

I wish my school had had astronomy too! When I got to college, I heard bad things about the intro class and never took it. My physics teacher had space posters too...in fact, he had worked for NASA at one time, on one of the unmanned probes. I can't remember which one it was, but when we took a scho...

I remember having to do the using clothes to float activity as part of a junior lifesaving course I took. I always regretted not taking the next course and becoming certified to be a lifeguard. We also learned a combination of treading water and curling up in a ball that can be used to float for lon...

I was corresponding for a while with a teacher at a private school in New York City, and he taught a space history course to seniors (probably still does). I too wish a similar course had been taught at my school!

I went to Russia back in high school, and I learned a (very) little Russian before I went, but it was enough to be able to sound out words...little did I know then, it might also be useful at Space Camp some day!?!
