Re: 2018

In a way, you are correct. One thing I forgot to mention is that right now, Space Camp attendance in the youth programs is B O O M I N G . The last two years or so, Camp programs have been booked to the max, to the point of having staff shortages during peak times. So as an administrator, if you ha...

Re: 2018

Currently Advanced Space Academy is listed at $1199 and the Advanced Space Academy Elite is listed at $2099. That is quite the cost difference and I would like to know what the $900.00 difference gets you. LOL You can ask and they will answer you in a general way. The main differences readily appar...

Re: 2018

With the low attendance at the last few adult weeklong camps, I wouldn't expect to see an adult alumni camp come available any time soon. I agree. My feeling is that attendance is low due to the changes made to keep prices down, i.e., fewer and shorter missions plus shorter "weeklong" cam...

Re: 2018

Has anyone noticed on the SC website, there is now an "Advanced Space Academy Elite" available? They have it listed for 15-18 year olds and is only available for Advanced Space Academy Graduates. I would love to know if there will be such a camp offered for Adults (over 18+). I would defi...

Re: 2018

The first people who send back the form get their preferred mission positions. Another way to do it would be to assign the positions based on who turned in their money first. LOL As much as I like first come, first served, I have enough work experience with it regarding holiday scheduling to know t...

Re: 2018

I had a comment identical to majtom7 but HabForum is doing funny things only phone and wouldn't let me post it. Braids, you, too? I've written posts, hit preview, had to sign back in, and start all over. I now copy before hitting preview so I can just paste and submit. (and yes, it just happened ag...

Re: 2018

Just playing Devil's Advocate here: Who is willing to front the $24K or more for a corporate camp, trusting that you will get repaid promptly without anyone dropping out? And if someone does drop out, that everyone else will pay more to cover the additional cost without anyone else dropping out? I s...

Re: 2018

Still, if they ever listed a SC session that was all about the sims, I'd love to do that! I would be interested in something like that, too, depending on the number, length, and mix of missions, i.e., shuttle vs. Orion. I once tried to cost something like a Manned Space Camp out. USSRC wanted to di...

Re: 2018

I think the rover activities tie in engineering and programming - two very big and important elements of spaceflight and exploration. You might be able to do it at home, but how many people actually do? I still think these activities are valuable additions to the camp programme. Engineering has alw...

Re: 2018

Two one-hour missions, then the "LDM" was only 3. 5 hours total mission time...<SMH> Speaking for myself, if I knew that we would only get 5 hours mission time for a "week" (really a 4 1/2 day) long program, I might not register in the first place. No wonder they keep a tight li...

Re: 2018

Let's just say that our team was comically small (one team of 8 guys and that was it) Oh, that was the best! I wish that USSRC would list the camp size and available openings on the schedule. Such a small camp would have been an enticement for me. and the trainer really didn't know his space histor...

Re: IMAX :-(

Just had a thought, what happens to the films now that the theater is closed? I'd sure love to see them get a new home. We have an Omnimax at the Shreveport La science center. It would be cool if the old guard movies could play once again in a new home. My guess is that they'll just use them in the...

Naw, they'll just run them over to the IMAX theatre in Davidson. The longer walk will tire them out more.

OMNIMAX was the best.

Re: "First Man" movie, who's going to see it the opening weekend?

I really liked “First Man” (I’m glad I asked the theater manager about the patch giveaway as they had them but the manager had no clue about it) https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1924/44359399765_b31ff709ee.jpg I can't tell if my wife will like it or hate it. It's a coin flip, I think, for what her re...

I suppose it only makes sense as most new IMAX movies are made for flat screens instead of the dome yet the dome is SO MUCH BETTER when the movie is made for it!!!

Re: Adult Camp Accomodations

The older style doors in Hab1 are plastic. The one on our room last year was wood. I'm not sure what material the newest set of doors are made of, since they renovated the doors after we were there last. Might be a good question for Vincent, Benji, Steve, or someone more local to camp. Some of the ...

Samantha Brown's Places To Love showed her doing an EVA, too. They also showed her at the Davidson Center.

LOL This is the ad that popped up on the Samantha Brown's Places To Love Huntsville episode page: https://www.huntsville.org/ Journey Beyond Your Expectations
