That was a reward for counselor of the week for Intermediate / Mach III Counselors as well as others in the program. I know Spanky flew a couple of times, Joker as well. Not quite. I seem to recall one counselor in particular who was 1 shot shy of having and ACE (under European rules... 5) and stil...

Ha, funny read. But ya may wanna take your own advice and... Lighten up, Francis. You're a funny, funny man, Hotdog. Really. Especially considering that I'm not heavy about the issue in the least. Read your response -- I'm not the one who needs to lighten up, though I definitely will. I plan to spe...

Joker, did someone piss in your Cheerios this morning? Lighten up, Francis. If you're gonna wear that much orange outside the Knox County limits, and you're not about to board the bus to strap in for an eight-and-a-half-minute trip downrange, you should make sure you fit one of the following job de...

i remember back in the 80's when the Young Astronauts was a club you could actually join. i still have the patches, posters, and other stuff from that club somewhere. Well, yeah. It's totally how Kathryn Fairly knew all about Andie Bergstrom, the first female shuttle pilot. And Coats got it instead.

I flew in an old Cesna. It is just sad that these aren't made anymore, as this is a great plane and sought after for certain types of things like search and rescue as you have a very good view out of the windows. This is the plane with the wing up on a bracket, for lack of the right term. Since I a...

Welll I would disagree just because some one is passionante and focused on Space and Astronomy does not mean that they can not be trained to know the inner workings of planes and aviation. Sure one might be in school for space and astronomy... but To say they can not handel the training of AC and b...

...or, horror of horrors, someone could acknowledge the big elephant in the room that no one talks about: There are distinct cultures for the space and aviation programs -- and that's not a bad thing. Those employed on the tactical level at SC and AC programs (and I use "SC" as a catchall ...

Um. Yes. There's actually a whole thread about this sort of thing around here somewhere.

And the Bubble is now....the Bubble at AC.

And I was in it when it was the NASA pavilion at the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, TN.

Re: It is OUR fault!

I'm going to disagree here to a point. They've always had a viable camp product to sell to alumni. Even as adults, engaged alumni are bound to be much more likely to send their own children to camp. That's the product even if there were no others. Feel free to disagree -- I used to sell that produc...

Re: It is OUR fault!

LET’S GO BLUE! What's Michigan got to do with it? Space Camp was a lot more magical when it was actually about the dream -- and quality and learning; and less about revenue streams, throughput, and the whims of those too far from where the action happens. Too many possible allies of Space Camp were...

Aw, Spanky, you know the only way we're getting into the Space Camp Hall of Fame is by paying admission at the door. Full price, natch. Reading the qualification list, it seems that candidacy for the HOF is related more to "how cool your job is now," or "how you can make SC look good ...

Great points as to why we landed on the moon. Spanky went to Space Camp so long ago...

In honor of the 25th Anniversary of Space Camp, and the fact that our very own Spanky was in the charter class, we're duty bound to offer some historical perspective. So, I propose we each provide some historical significance. I'll start: Spanky went to Space Camp so long ago.... - his graduation ce...
