Re: Jon McBride's Training Flight Suit

Market value is the price that a buyer is willing to pay and a seller is willing to accept. In any normal auction, there is a minimum price listed. None have been listed for this suit for any of the countless auctions in which it has been listed. I've 'won' it more than once, only to have the listi...

Re: Jon McBride's Training Flight Suit

I know of at least four different places that the suit was listed on in auctions, and it was withdrawn every time. I bid on it into separate auctions, only to have the item retracted each time. I'm not 100% convinced anyone's actually going to sell the thing at this point. I bid twice, and I'm not w...

Re: Lego Saturn V

This Disney thing reminds me of a comedian I once heard who said that he'd heard Disney was going to run the KSC visitor center and the first thing they would do would be to add a façade to the VAB to make it look like a castle...

More importantly, I wonder when they'll get all the bugs out of it, if it's anything like the other capsule sim!

Online store not working...

I tried looking at what SC has these days, but the online store isn't working at all. They changed formats again, it seems and the main page doesn't have a link to the gift shop I could find. I had to Google it. I know they have some 35th anniversary stuff now, I hope they fix the online gift shop s...

Re: The Mars Generation Movie

As far as I know, Netflix bought full rights to it, so it should be on Netflix forever. “Forever” is such a relative concept for Netflix. They pick up and drop stuff faster than a toddler with their toys. It’s the primary reason I still buy DVDs or Blu-Rays of movies I really like. Others say, “but...

That is so sad. Wasn't that the original sim at Space Camp?

Re: Last mission for Atlantis

Not even the older ones. I know there are plenty of kids who are still kids today who ran missions in the Atlantis. I was lucky enough to pull a CDR slot in my only mission in that orbiter, in 2013. It was an excellent mission, probably the best one I ever took part in, if I do say so myself. http:/...

Re: Orbiter mockup at the old Florida STS departs...

The SC mockup is a different one from the KSC one.
The mockup that used to sit where the Atlantis Pavilion now sits, is now at The Visitor Center in Houston. It is sitting atop The sca 747 carrier plane.

Re: 1996 Groups vs Now?

I agree, I'd think that our class /student names would be in a database some place. I truly doubt that. I have a feeling there's no master list of anyone who's gone through that goes back more than a few years, if even then. I'm constantly amazed at how much info you'd think SC would have, but they...

Re: Hidden Figures

I didn’t get to the theaters to see it, so I’ll nab it on Netflix when they eventually have it. Other than here and the CollectSpace forum, I haven’t read much about it. I don’t think a single co-worker or local friend of mine saw it as I don’t recall overhearing anyone discussing the film.

Re: Additional Item Purchases When Registering For Camp

The flight suit, you’ll find for many, is a work in progress. I can see photos of myself at camp and immediately know when they’re taken for the patches on my suit. I’ve changed it every year, usually from adding a new team patch. I still need to sew the ‘prefab’ patch from 2016. I’m at the point wh...

Re: Additional Item Purchases When Registering For Camp

I’ll hit your questions from observations on adult programs since 2012 (the most recent was the week-long program in October of last year): Has anyone purchased the clothing package? If so, is it worth the value and are the items good quality and/or have nice logos, etc? If you’re hitting an adult p...

Re: The Mars Generation Movie

Wow, I hadn’t even heard of this before just now: http://ew.com/movies/2017/03/30/mars-generation-trailer/ Looks like a good movie, but it’s sort of sad that you simply CANNOT talk about Space Camp at all in the media, ever, and not focus on the kids alone. How many of us adult program alumni have h...

Re: Alabama Space And Rocket Center Patch

Yeah, we all know about the red patches and why they exist. I don’t think that’s a fair assumption at all. Sure, a FEW of us here know that, but I highly doubt everyone here does. As for the white ones, I spent a lot of time looking into their use when I found mine, and nothing came up. I’ve seen p...

Re: Alabama Space And Rocket Center Patch

That's pretty great! I don't think I've ever seen a white version, just the red. I have one in my collection and saw another on ePay a couple of years ago. I tried to figure out what they were for and I haven’t found any record of them being used in white. The original red/white/gold design was int...

Boeing Starliner swag...

A friend of mine at Boeing got me some of the stickers for this design, and one of the lapel pins. The stickers look great, but they are about three-quarters of the size of a normal NASA mission patch sticker. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v214/willysmb44/starliner_zpswhdmcn4z.jpg He was quite s...
