Re: Early 80’s flight suit
Lack of pockets and exposed zippers looks like a late 80's up until about 1990 flight suit with patches removed. In 1991 they added the standard poscket arrangement seen on military and NASA flight suits and covered the zippers.

Re: Space Camp For Educators
I'm thinking SC is likely desperate for campers, so it's unlikely they'd be turning people away for anything right about now. Space Camp's numbers are definately lower than normal but that is because of restrictions. If you go to the Space Camp website and look at any program most weeks are full. S...

Re: Heartfelt Thanks and Congratulations for Vincent
First off I wanted to say thank you and congratulations to Vincent on 20 years oh Hab 1. As someone who has been a member since very early on it amazes me how the site grew, changed, and helped unite and inform so many people over 20 years. I've made many friends here over the last 20 years. I've be...

Save Space Camp Campaign
For those who have not hear about this. Space Camp is in serious danger of closing in September and not reopening. As it is week long prgrograms will end after August. The plan is to reopen in these programs in the spring. However Space Camp announced today it has a budget shortfall of 1.5 million d...

Sad to hear this. I was one of the lucky ones who actually saw the film in theaters.

Re: Name Badges
I've seen some early shuttle program leather name tags with the meatball but never a cloth one like this. And even though the worm was in use until 1993 the meatball still was often worn on flight suits and jackets as well as the worm. Just look at some of the pre challenger astronaut portraits espe...

Some of us are still around. I have not visited Hunstsville since 2012 but still keep up to date on whats going on down there.

Re: Saturn 1 For Sale!
I saw it 14 years ago today actually on a tour of Marshall. It was in pretty rough shape back then and i'm sure it has not improved with age. If a museum or other facility had the mone to do some restoration work it might be salvageable. Keep in mind this is a Saturn 1 block 1 first stage. So basicl...

Re: Lego movie voice actors go to Space Camp
To be fair they never called it a right stuff award or explained its significance on the show. Only an alum would know what it really should mean.

Re: Packing for Space Camp: THE VIDEO!
Fun little video but that's not Hab1. Is that the Aviation Challenge dorm (Hab3?). I'm guessing they did it there because they wanted to show the smallest lockers and encourage people to pack light. The two things missing from the video (and the official packing list) are a camera and a small bag o...

Re: What has happened to the atlantis simulator from Level 2?
Atlantis is definitely not what she one was. I have always heard the story it was the set used in the movie as well and camp even use to say it in promotional photos over the years. However I have my doubts as every account I have of filming the movie talks about a cockpit suspended above the floor ...

Re: Accomodation included?
May seem like a tight fit for adults but as I understand it the hab 1 rooms are suppose top be the same amount of living space as space shuttles had when not carrying space lab or space hab so may be a tight fit but gives you a since of astronaut life

Re: Medication
I think you have to consider that the main attendees of the camp are still children. So yes the Beir Garten has become a regular event each week it should stay at that event and drunk adults coming back on campus whether from that or from a local bar may still be seen by children. Or by parents who ...

When I worked there it was made very clear to us that drinking in the Hab or coming back extremely enebriated was a huge transgression. Not saying drinking doesn't happen among counselors but most know their limits and either stop or go somewhere else for the night atleast in my experience.

Not sure who you are referring to but I know as an ambassador you do have a background check run atleast I know I had to sign permission to have one done. I have heard so little from the ambassador program in the last year i'm not sure it really exist anymore.

Re: The Goldbergs
The movie somewhat inspired me to go to camp. I remember seeing it in theaters in 86. Was already a huge space buff but didn't realise the camp was a real place and even if it was the kids in the movie were a lot older than I was. I found out about 3 years later when looking for a flight suit after ...
