Re: Medication
More than likely but that is still circumstantial. Others come in the HAB including counselors and other USSRC personnel. They could have tossed them out there. Someone could have found the empties hidden in their room and tossed them. You'd be surprised at the number of teenagers with drinking and...

Re: Medication
Because it was all adults and family camp. I'm pretty sure the parents of the kids aren't letting them knock down the whiskey while at camp, so it was either adult camp or the adults in the parent/child camp.majtom7 wrote:Agreed yet how do you know that those bottles are from adult campers?

Re: Become Canada's next astronaut!
I was going to apply for NASA's last astronaut class but didn't when I found my eyesight probably wouldn't allow it and the kidney stone I'd had in the Army for sure disqualified me right there. But looking back, I wish I'd dropped the application anyway, just to say I'd done so. I have to brag a b...

Re: Medication
We figure adults are responsible enough to self medicate. If you are here a week when there are no children's programs the nurse doesn't even spend the night on site. As to visiting the location formerly known as Otter's, please remember that you will not be allowed to return to the dorm if you are ...

Re: Adult Week Long October 2016
For my team, we had one guy who does web design as a career. He brought a laptop with Photoshop and put in a lot of time putting together the patch with the team's input. The children draw their patches by hand, and there are some seriously talented children coming to Camp! I studied art throughout...

Re: Adult Week Long October 2016
I would think the pre-designed team mission patches are only available for week long sessions because of the time it takes to have them made and shipped back to camp. Anyone here know for sure? Otherwise, some teams choose to take their own created mission patch design and have it made into embroid...
Re: 2017
Those are the week numbers. USSRC runs on the fiscal calendar (the same used by government and military), with the new year beginning the week of 1 October.

Ditto what Jason and Lisa said. Once your day is done you're ready to get away from the floor!
Re: 2016
I called them up today to find out whether Mike & I would be on the same team and whether we could stay in the hab together. The answer was "yes, if you want to" to part A, and "no" to part B. I was a little bit bummed at first, but hey, maybe it will be fun to us to stay in...

Re: Germany meets Space Camp ;-)
Madison Square Mall is only about 3 miles from Space Camp. It's a nice, newer mall and has just about everything. http://www.madisonsquaremall.com/ Um, no. Madison Square Mall is dead. Literally. There are about 3 stores left in it and soon to be closed and reconfigured as a mixed use facility (off...

Re: Another fire at the center!
Agreed! Now it'll be interesting to see what is done with the structure. There's been talk of repurposing it several years, now our hand has been forced!

Re: Another fire at the center!
FYI, it wasn't the Journey to Mars area (aka 'Museum Mars'), it was the old Camp Mars mission area, which has not been in use for at least 3 years. It is the structure near the nose of Pathfinder, outside.p51 wrote:Looks like it was the Journey to Mars area that was affected.

Re: Hab Windows
My HAB1 room was much the same as before. New mattresses & pillows made for kids, some paint on walls and in lockers, hatches inside lockers screwed down, new flooring in room, door failed to close without a pull or push, wifi access very limited.. We were told that the renovation was still in ...

Re: Hab Windows
My daughter lived in one of the 'bubble' rooms for two years. She used duct tape to keep rain, wind, and bugs out of her room, unsuccessfully. As the trainees rooms have been renovated in Hab I, so have the RA rooms. They now have a better heating system, the windows have been replaced, as you notic...

Movie? I'm showing my age here, but that's a song from my teens! I actually sang it in a band I was in in junior high school.SpaceCanada wrote:"All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go..."
Sorry, bad movie reference. But true.

Can you verify if my SCUBA form was received? I know all my other ones are filled out. My real life name is Jennifer Henley :-) Jennifer, I'll have to get that answer on Monday. Re: Less than a month away from ASA!
I am going back and forth on hauling my camera gear (Canon 6D) and tripod to do some shots at night and haul the big camera around on a day or two to get good photos. I'm happy to say since this is a weeklong program, your crew trainers will have a point and shoot Nikon camera (official camera of S...

Re: Less than a month away from ASA!
Just a reminder: Be sure to complete your health and dietary needs forms! I just did my preliminary report for the ADAA week and 10 folks have not completed them! :( Also, complete your transportation form! Adults are particularly negligent about that. If you don't request (and pay for) ground trans...
