In the OLD days, there was a "death ray" button attached on L4, just in case the Commander needed it... It wasn't "inside," but it was still fun. Occassionally, we DID have to deploy it... Of course, there was an Air Force maninkin that somehow ended up in one of the female campe...

The one year I was there, there was a saying that one of three NASA staples could fix any problem... Duct tape, Velcro, or John Young. :)

My only pseudo-suggestion would be to "swap out" the two craft - put the shuttle above the fighter jet. Although I realize the shuttle is on ascent, for the most part, people associate shuttles with space and fighter jets with atmosphere (ie, lower altitude than a shuttle). I've worked on ...

I know it must be hard to leave, but at least with Hab 1 you can kinda still be there, or at least "hang out" with fellow space-enthusiasts. Granted, it's not waking up to Pathfinder, but I suppose you could put a shuttle model about 2 inches from your pillow and then when you wake up, it ...

I didn't have that great of a connection either - kinda choppy and shaky - but from what I could see it was an absolutely beautiful launch. And, although I think all astronauts are incredible people for their knowledge, depth, and courage, I think Barbara Morgan is especially incredible. She caught ...

OK - OK - I'll load it on soon! I actually got it through a recommendation from the people at The Space Store across from JSC. I WILL have to try it!

I do like landings, though...

Agghhhhh! As a science person, please don't even get me started on Americans and their refusal to embrace the metric system...!

(Athough - Canadians and Brittons - Just what IS that extra "u" doing in there, anyway??? ) 8)

I have LIFTOFF and a Mac, but would you believe I never installed it??? That is SO BAD of me!!! - But I've been real busy, and not too inclined to get on my computer at night, if that's any excuse (I know - it isn't!)

So if you try it, let me know how it works...! :)

I also work in publishing, and several years ago I came across the EXACT SAME ERROR, although in a soon-to-be-published book. When I told the publisher that the orbiter Endeavour used the Brittish spelling, they said they didn't want to send the page back for correction at that point and that Americ...

I'm going to view this as a serious question. I, too, was disappointed to find out the reality of getting your ashes shot into space, especially in the case described above. This has to be totally your decision. If I had those two choices, I would have my sibling use the model rocket! However, I kno...

MER - 2007 and counting

Darn dust storm!!! After 3 years (in spite of their 3-month warranty), the two Mars Exploration Rovers Spirit and Opportunity are still going. I have to say that they are my favorite non-crewed space mission going right now, probably because those little guys are so tough! (OK, and the team behind t...

As much as I would miss the STS sims, I do think that Space Camp must go the way of the space program and convert to the new programs (while keeping the ISS). From an adult peprspective, it's fun to "play" at being an astronaut and to experience "space" from the ground. However, ...
