Advanced Space Academy patches

It's rare to see these pop up on eBay, but I noticed something different about these. They are the standard 4" diameter! :o When Space Camp produced these originally, they undersized them at 3.5" for some reason. This made them look awkward when placed onto flightsuits and jackets alongsid...

Level II trainee shirt in tie dye

Here's one that's unique. It's the mid-1990's Space Academy Level II trainee shirt, but in tie dye. In all my years, I have never seen one in tie dye. Does anyone know if this was a legit issue? Willing to bet this was tie-dyed by the owner after the fact. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-US-Space-A...

Love the anomaly/callsign story! May be the first and only person with Babydaddy as a callsign.

Re: Space Camp Operations Center

The formal announcement of the SCOC facility was made on Friday: Construction is already underway on the 40,600 square foot center, which will include a 1,000-seat auditorium, 10 classrooms and laboratories and provide a permanent home for the center’s U.S. Cyber Camp. The exterior of the building i...

Space Camp Operations Center

In more positive news, ground has been broken for the construction of the new "Space Camp Operations Center" next to the Hab. While the name reads like it will be the new home for Space Camp sims, the sign out front reads "A new cyber camp facility for the Space & Rocket Center&qu...

Boomerang has passed

It is with great sadness I must pass along that Hab1 forum member "Boomerang" passed away today after battling some health issues. Jason attended multiple Space Camp and Aviation Challenge programs in the 1990's-2000's which earned him the callsign "Boomerang" for having came bac...

Re: Flight Suits - How well do they fit?

The XL's do fit tight. You should def order a size up, for comfort more than anything.
Also, if the suit you ordered doesn't fit, they will swap it out for you.

Re: Heartfelt Thanks and Congratulations for Vincent

Same here. It was the discovery of this board in 2006 that brought me back into the space world. I think of all the things that have happened since then...designing stuff for the Rocket Center, helping with Summerfest, going to tons of space-related events and launches, even moving to Huntsville thi...

Yep! They have her completely stripped down to her frame now. Waiting to hear if she's going to be salvageable or not. Hoping all she needs is a new set of skin.

Re: Where is everyone now?

Welcome back Spyder/Starbuck! Thank you for remembering us. Hab1 has not gone away. A few of us die-hards are still active here despite what other groups like Facebook may have you think LOL. It is always so refreshing when old members come back. Social media can only get you so far. Like the bar th...

Re: Where is everyone now?

Welcome back! Always great to see some old faces pop back up. A lot has changed! I am now living and working in Huntsville. I have been volunteering and helping out Space Camp and AC for the past several years, including our annual Summerfest alumni reunion and Hall of Fame events. I would suggest c...

Re: Name Badges

I would say it's fairly recent. NASA didn't revert back to the meatball until 1997-1998, and she had one mission after that point (STS-98 in 2001). The only photos I've seen of her wearing that badge are more recent pics taken after that time. I haven't seen any other astros with that particular bad...

Rocket Center lays off more than a third of staff

Sad news from the Rocket Center today. Many of the crew trainers and staff we know and love have been let go. My heart breaks for those who have been impacted.   This is a huge blow to Space Camp and to our friends who dedicated their life to something they loved. https://www.al.com/...
