Re: Adult Advanced Space Academy

That's interesting to know though, especially for those of us who might want to do an ASA but can't.
If we get enough people interested, we CAN do it. Anyone know what size that group is?

Re: Toxic team members

I can't say that I've ever been on a bad team - as a child or as an adult, but I can say there have been some toxic members - a number of kids not really into the whole space thing who were sent by their parents just because. Other than that, I'd also say I've run up against a couple of adults in my...

Re: Early Photos

I was just doing a quick web search and found this persons Space Academy Level 2 album from the late 80s. Shows some shots of the training center some of the sims including Atlantis in her glory days post movie and pictures from around space camp. http://lovelyrita-mm.com/2009/02/moar-space-camp/ W...

Re: Early Photos

It's not 1988. I have pictures of 1988 and it's close, but not quite. This would be more of 1988: http://www.richasi.com/SpaceLink/Camp/full/scan0024.jpg This is the way I remember the floor in 1991: http://www.richasi.com/SpaceLink/Camp/full/scan0029.jpg So, since the picture doesn't have Endeavour...

Re: Early Photos

The first picture is the old training center - the bubble - which you see in SpaceCamp: The Movie. Second is the Museum as it looked back in the day. It looked like that in 1985, 1988, 1989 and 1991 when I visited. By 1995, by next visit, they'd darkened all the windows and put in Apollo exhibits. T...

Re: Recent SC story on adult programs, odd behavior?

I've found the adult programs are a real mixed bag when it comes to enthusiasm. The first adult program I attended back in 2003 was filed with people who were looking for something interesting to do, but were not 100% committed to the experience. It had been more than 10 years since I had attended a...

Re: Possible SC movie 'mission' patch?

The patch sounds cool! I'd be in for one if you make it.

As for the shuttle launch: I recall reading the filmmakers used Discovery launch footage - STS-51C comes to mind.

EDIT: Yes, 51-C. SpaceCamp Blog did a small bit on it last year:

Re: Changing names on the shuttle simulators?

Hey! Just wanted to add that I located the photo I took and "Enterprise" does have "105" where the Shuttle's name should be. Sitting in front is Columbia with its old payload bay opened up behind it. It was taken in summer 1988. I can try and scan it if you're interested in seein...

Re: Adult Week 2013?

As with Hotdog, I'd need to know exact dates before I can commit.
Otherwise, $1500 is nothing to sneeze at, but I'd love to do it.

Re: Changing names on the shuttle simulators?

I've seen some shots with "105" on the side of the shuttle, but I'm not sure if this was on the side of Enterprise or not. (I'll have to look in my photo archive to be sure, I'll get back to you). OV-105, of course, became Endeavour and as Boomerang mentioned, a sim with that name later ma...

Wow! The one based on the Astronaut Hall of Fame logo is great!
(and the second merged with the Official Camp logo just makes it!)

Re: Possible New Space Camp Logo

Yeah, not a huge fan of the new logo.

Kind of makes me sad that it's going to change although I understand the need for it to change.

Still, I would have rather seen something more dynamic than just a person in a space suit.

Re: Adult Week 2013?

12-hour shuttle/ISS EDM (which I was leaning towards anyway, over the 24-hour) Area 51 MSFC tour (they were all American, lucky them) two dive sessions at the UAT (with a new full face mask, no near-drownings this time) lunar mission wine and cheese screening of October Sky among the other usual ca...

Re: Adult Week 2013?

Aww, no Scuba? ;)

Yeah, I would suggest taking off the AC stuff, even though I enjoyed the Area 51 stuff for the 25th, to focus on the space side completely.
Though, what would we do during the day? :)

Yeah, I think I have a copy of it lying around here somewhere and yep, it's for kids. =)

Follows a Space Camp kids team around for their adventure, writing about their experiences. Still has some good pictures in it from that era - 1991/1992.

Used for only 1-cent, ne? Not a bad price ;)

Re: Kennedy Tours of the Launch Complex

Hey guys, I don't know if you are aware of this, but they are offering tours of the launch pad up close at Kennedy. See the caption below: There's three "new" tours now... VAB Tour, Launch Pad Tour and Launch Firing Room Tour - each leaving around the same time of day so you can't do more...

The tour just started so I'm sure they'll add more stops once they figure out how popular it's going to be (by the looks of things, very popular) and figure out the logistics of moving the bus in and out of places.

Good tour though!
