The end of the shuttle era was planned for by a "Tiger Team" in 2000. Spanky, Sandrat and a few others were on the final team preparing overal revisions to the programs. You could ask them what those ideas entailed. Many of the current revisions came from their study and recommendations. ...

I think the holes they are referring to are in the frame of the ring where the passenger sits. As i said by 1991 they had atleast 2 MAT's i know there were 2 on the floor. Both had a shelf but no joystick on them. I don't know about the other one but ours looked like it had a control panel of butto...

Wrong on a couple of points...

The Saturn 1 is as real as the Saturn V. It may be made up of spare parts but those are real parts, except for the Apollo capsule which is a boiler plate, just like the one on the Saturn V and on the Mercury-Redstone for that matter. The Redstones, the Juno, and the Altas are real as well, the Titan...

Whomever that counselor was that said 'Discovery' was being refit to a Russian Whatever was so uninformed its not even funny. 'Discovery' was simply updated to the new software and hardware package. And that is all that was done to her.

Suborbital Mercury flights

Always sounded like a cool idea to me. They only last 15 minutes from launch to splash down. Could do innumeral flights with a team.

No management forethought. I seriously doubt that anyone really intends to reactivate 'Endeavour' in the other building as it has now been canabalized. Plus in order to reactivate she would have to be completely upgraded with all new hardware and software, something not now in the budget. Plus they'...
