This sure was some sad news to come home to. I'm glad I had the chance to meet Wally at an astronaut autograph convention a few years ago. When the convention was over, I had some time to kill at the hotel before going to the airport, so started reading flight controller Sy Liebergot's autobiography...

I bought a light blue flight suit from some other web site before ever going to Space Camp, because I wanted it for Halloween, presentations etc. I went with the light blue because, well, I'm an 80's junkie and wanted one that was evocative of that era  I did, of course, take it to camp as well.

I can't remember whether I saw the space mural in the Huntsville airport when I was coming in, or only when I was leaving, but I thought it was cool, whenever it was. I went to the ground transportation area and asked the guys at the desk whether I was in the right place to get the bus to Space Camp...

How cool! I've basically just worn mine for Halloween, though one of the Halloween parties was at the science museum where I volunteer. I did wear it twice for a program I gave on the Centennial of Flight. I'm not sure if I'll wear it this year or not; I may get some strange reactions in light of th...

Welcome Des! I was commander as well when I went to Adult Academy. I hadn't requested it, and when they assigned me, I was a little nervous! I don't remember the name of the simulator we had, just that it was the one closest to the UAT at the time, but I don't think it gave me any directions on what...

Hehe...I live in the basement...my apartment is half underground and half above ground. The windows are in the above ground part, and reach from a few inches above the ground outside to a few inches below my ceiling. It faces east, so I don't get the worst of the afternoon heat in the summer, so I n...

I'm so glad you finally got to meet an astronaut, Jennifer! It sounds like it was an awesome first meeting, too! I hope she's the first of many, though there's nothing like the excitement of the first time you meet one! Once I met my first astronaut, I then looked forward to meeting my first woman a...

I was PROP in Mission Control (I had written that position down as one I'd prefer, and got it). Mission Control wasn't my most shining Space Academy moment...I kept losing where we were in the script, and the others just skipped over my parts when I didn't read them! The guy who was our PAO had a GR...
