Re: Space Center Fighting Order
Well thanks I appreciate that. I did go away when I thought things were under control and then every once in awhile people would tell me about some crazy story and it would verify. This arbitration loss was the final straw. So I’m back for a while and I’ve got a backlog of stuff to look at. However,...

Re: Space Center Fighting Order
Just FYI because I was curious about it. Mike Wing is out of federal prison... again. He went to federal prison in 2007, got out in 2016. Somehow ended up coaching a high school baseball and basketball team in Oregon. During that time he had a probation violation for taking out loans and later lying...
Re: 2018
I still have a lot of details to iron out (for example, a hotel cheaper than the Marriott as I just don't want to HAB it for another week like I did in 2016), but it looks like I'm going back this year , after all! :D :) 8) They just built a new hotel directly across the highway from Space C...

I have a feeling this is Canada. I think there was mention a while back about them refurbishing their facilities.

Leadership Changes at Space Camp
Morning all, Last week my phone blew up with news that one of the best program managers Space Camp has ever had been let go. Most of us know her simply as Kirby. I've gotten some details and I'm most certainly all for respecting her privacy but it doesn't seem like a smart decision. Since the first ...

Re: Hab Windows
Hi guys.
Because the adult camp took place in October it wasn't in the financials presented to the finance committee yesterday. I'll check again next month and maybe I can shed some light on the costs.

Hab Windows
Noticed something the other day when I went by das sprocket to meet some folks. They have taken the bubble windows out of the RA rooms in Hab1. IF you didn't know they were there to begin with you would have never known. Any idea as to why? I'm guessing leaks maybe?

MAT upgrades
I heard through the grapevine that there are some MAT upgrades in the works. The person mentioned a dual unit where you sit side by side with another person. That sounds great and all and will speed up the training time but I think this would be a better option - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Oux...

Full Commission Meeting Notes 5/22/15
The Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission Meeting met on Friday and I have to say it was a good meeting. As always Dr. Barnhart gave a great CEO's report that highlighted a lot of the great things that have happened since the commission last met. I would like to point out that not only did she gi...

Re: Board Meeting Notes 5/20/2014
Maybe the CFO needs more time and/or help... Just speculating as it's hard to say what's behind the curtain... Besides, how can you do cost+ if you are unable to figure out the above? (although I do understand the appeal of higher margin on add-ons) I have to say I really like the guy. I never get ...

Re: Board Meeting Notes 5/20/2014
Thanks for the update, Wes. I would come down for the Friday meeting if I weren't already going out-of-town. Keep us posted when the next meetings are in advance, and perhaps if one falls on a Friday again I can make the trip down. You bet man. Would love to have you there for sure. Because ASSEC i...

Board Meeting Notes 5/20/2014
First I want to extend an invite to anyone who reads this, especially in the Huntsville area to come to these public meetings. I've been attending ASSEC meetings (off and on) for over 4 years now and I've seen some of you there but I think alumni need to be there especially when discussions like yes...

Re: Board Meeting Notes 4/15/2015
I haven't looked back recently but I seem to remember that two CFOs ago they actually did have it listed as a major line item. It more than likely has a specific line item buried deep in one of the expense categories. I will say this the new CFO they have is pretty [darn] awesome. He had great char...

Re: Board Meeting Notes 4/15/2015
A few years ago the Visions and Plans Committee of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center pitched around a few ideas like turning the area into a water park similar to the Evergreen Wings and Waves waterpark in Oregon. Check out the pictures below - would be a unique place for sure and could help build y...

Re: Board Meeting Notes 4/15/2015
What do you mean by airport service? Buses from those airports? A few months ago commission members were briefed on some of the issues that keep the price of attending camp high. One of the main factors was the fact that Huntsville fares are very high and no real access to low-cost carriers. Repres...

Board Meeting Notes 4/15/2015
I'm not blogging over at sprocketeers.org but I do plan on attending meetings when I have time. Just a few tidbits from the joint meeting of the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission Business and Executive Committees - Finances look a lot better but still kinda scary. As of yesterday (after payin...

Re: 'Can Crusher' at the center now...
Well I haven't been able to confirm this but the timing seems interesting. In January at the Executive/Business Committee joint meeting it was announced that a structure was being moved from MSFC to USSRC in the overnight hours. That structure would not be a display piece but would actually end up a...
